I don't eat mushrooms that have "deadly look-alikes" - I stick to the "safe" ones like morels, shaggy manes, chickens, hens, lobsters, etc.

I agree on the varieties you mentioned above - Puffballs have been showing up lately as well.. Those are pretty safe.

Jack Rabbit is horrible. Back in the college days we popped one and took out the back legs. Barbecued up and looked really good. Looks were deceiving as it was gamey, stringy and tough to chew.

I was always told to never eat them as they are bug infested. Cotton tails on the other hand are great table fare

Yeah NEVER eat any wild edibles unless you are 100% sure. That's why I stick to the easily identifiable mushrooms with zero look-a-likes. Found an nice fresh chicken yesterday. It's small but will go good as a side dish to a T-bone!;)
