As many as there are its taking a lot to feed them, Up here it's a little bit of everything but I haven't seen a rabbit in years and very seldom hear Ruffed Grouse drum any more. Canadian geese have been lucky to raise one or two young , 3 was the biggest hatch I saw last spring with a pair and who knows it they even made it. Pretty sure they snatch hens off the nest too because after nesting is over we see lots of adult pairs with another tag along adult. Thy get a deer once in a while but The only time I have witnessed it up here is this time of the year when they chase them out on a frozen pond, Then they are dead meat. Are there any Jack rabbits left down on the flats ?

Add Pine Martins to the equation and they almost have us wiped out for small game.

If this don't give you the heebie jeebies or make u itch for a day or 2 I don't know what will...glad I had gloves on and only touched his leg for a grand total of 2 seconds..after a day you could see the mange mites come out of the woodwork, in the slough he went with a shovel.

And now I have to take another shower tonight after seeing that thanks. Dogs are thick around my area it's just to muddy to go chase them.

Ha sorry, just a friendly reminder to be careful with semi ill-looking coats and to dispose of them properly to stop the spread to the other magnificent creatures ;:;bowdown. Put the mucks on and get after em!
If you're looking to try and trick a few around there hit me up via pm, itll be game on after smoke-pole season..

I'm pretty sure that's lice, not mange. Gross either way, they have a distinct smell.

After a little more research it definitely looks like canine lice which makes sense.. I noticed his hair was really thinning/disappearing in spots and it didnt look like your prototypical mangy dog.. I just came across mange mites with a google search and although microscopic i just ended it there cuz it got in my head itched the rest of the weekend!
Think if i was him i would have been glad to accidentally run into a flock of field decoys if ya know what im sayin..

Kind of fun to watch the cycles of wildlife, Bugs will eventually take over and set them back. For the first time that I know of Fox have laid claims to the farm yard. One is marking his territory about 100' from our house , I saw the tracks earlier and just watched him do it again today just before dark. Pretty sure the coyotes drove them in the yard, They howl from all directions up here. I hope the fox stick around.

Been checking out an area a few miles from where I had been and the numbers there are definitely higher. saw one fox this morning and one and three quarters coyotes and saw two yotes in that same area yesterday. still not seeing jack for them back at the other spot but definitely seeing the invasion of the upland birds. one spot down there is just sick with both pheasants and grouse each morning and even a few partridge.

I think there are tons of them in 2I. Sounds like there are ten of them in every direction some nights. The bastards are in by my cows already.

Coyotes are way up here this year. I have 2 separate packs of 7-12 outside my fence twice a day. I see at least 4 every time I go to the VA. I have a friend that's a game warden that said we could shoot 4 a day and not make much of a dent in the population.

We have a stable bobcat population and at least 1 lion but I've only seen 3 foxes all year. So once it starts staying cold looks like I'll be pelt hunting.

Another 2K2 hunter that didn't even hear any howling. I normally hear 2 or three packs howling after sundown.

We will never see high deer numbers again with all these coyotes. The NDGF does not understand this. The main food source during winter months for coyotes is deer.

I have spent lots of time scouting for deer in 2k2 over the last 6 months. The coyote numbers are very high. There are some good deer numbers coming back but the habitat destruction is quite severe. The deer numbers are greatest in spots that are posted tight and the landowners feed these deer during the winter.
