What are you guys seeing for yotes because I'm seeing insane amounts while out duck hunting. Seeing probably on average 2 to 3 per hour when scouting and 1 to 3 per hunt working the area around the decoys. Saw 7 in 20 mins on Sunday in only about five miles traveled. Have never seen so many out and about like this before so either there are an absolute ton of them or foods getting in short supply or a little of both.

What was being advertised? Pretty sure sconis are not going to come shoot coyotes and if they did would help the resources. If killing coyotes is what they want to do SD will welcome them with open arms.

I know of a guy (customer of mine) who travels from IL each year to hunt coyotes. Don't be surprised how many out of state folks read these threads.

LOTS...

Coyotes or Sconis? If you’re looking for the latter find the loudest guy in the bar guzzling down Miller and nacho cheese sauce

i guess i did not read into that right if looking for sconis i would think a big cheese head thing would be bait they cant resist

Been hearing them all summer, but now that the crop is off around the house they are IN the yard. Attempt number 3 was last night at around 0430. With the yellow lab yard dog call getting evermore hoarse over the last two weeks, he was having an absolute fit last night, when I heard a coyote call right in the yard. I dug out the totally blacked out (not quite black ops) .243 topped with a very impressive 3x9 scheels scope (guaranteed for life). This unsuppressed weapon, a youth Remington 700, delivers the thunder and lightning of the trident of Poseidon. With the clear night and faint glow of the Fargo lights, I was able to make him out at about 70 yrds (no range finder, but he was between me and my 100yrd target). I squeezed the trigger, but the safety was on and in that little maneuver to take the safety off, the coyote slipped back into the safety of the shadows. I will post a pic if I ever connect on these sleep ruining bastages.

Yes, thank you Kurtr. I know there's coyotes in SD. I shot 9 around Pierre just last week. However, there are more in some places than others. Have gun, will travel...

Complaining about people shooting coyotes is like complaining about a guy stealing all the fat chicks.:;:huh

If i am correct it is about the time of the year where the young of the year are getting evicted from the mothers den. To me it seems like a good reason there are so many dumb ones out this time of year

I'd be happy to take care of as many as I can. PM me some rough coordinates.
If you or anyone else truly wants the actual location of where I've seen the densest concentrations feel free to p.m. me because I don't go after yotes so I have no problem putting you right in the middle of them where I saw the 7.

in the northeast part of SD where I live there WAS a large population of yotes a few years back. They got so bad and were causing some kerfuffles with farmers etc that state trappers came in and trapped and flew a few areas. They dang near whipped them out in this area.(starting to come back) Which Im ok with because I've personally seen them take down deer/fawns. So in ND...if trouble areas or high density areas is that help available?

Are you sure it was the state trappers that truly knocked them down that much. Know a couple guys that used to do that and sure they get them fairly decent but there are just not enough of them to make a big over all difference. Normally around here if they go from thick to thin in a short amount of time it's the mange that got most of them not the hunters and trappers. As far as mange goes it doesn't appear to be much of an issue right now because that's one of the main reasons I'm spotting these things is they're so damn light compared to the pasture ground behind them that they stand out almost glowing from a quarter mile away if the sun is hitting them.
