No maybe 5 or 6 at the most. I have been doing it for 5 years now.

Wonder if a guy could trap enough in nd, wonder if they would be safe to eat?

Im sure they would be safe to eat just purge them in the cooler with clean water a few days. I think the hard part would be getting enough big ones to make it worth it. We used to catch a bunch when i was a kid and traded the bait shop in watertown for worms. I dont know what they did with them all but had a tank full at the back of the store most were just little ones like a inch or smaller. I think they were just being nice to the neighborhood kids.

I guess i dont know the legalities here i dont think you need any thing for personal use. I think its just the growing season they have so much more time there and make they farm for them so i bet the nutrients are some much better. Seems we always caught them around rocks with mud close enough to build huts. Would be interesting to throw a trap out for a few days and see how many you get

May try it and if i do i will post back here. Probably talk to game and fish before i do though.

When we had our cabin we'd throw a minnow trap under the dock and catch enough for a meal once in a while. It'd take a week or 2 to get enough though. Put them in a 5 gallon bucket and run cold water thru them for a couple hours to get them cleaned out and throw em in a boiling pot for 5-10 minutes. Mini lobsters.

Fish those lakes off hwy 12 west of town?

Rusty craws here in mn considered invasive species dark water lakes loaded with these mud bugs, leech lake is loaded. These rusty's are quite large look like 6" mini lobster infact same texture as you guys know,good eats.

Excellent bass bait and come August when they lay eggs walleyes shallow, remember "rapala fat raps?" Cray pattern killer pounding rocky shorelines.

You mean 212 but no when I was a kid most those lakes were a slough at best. We caught most our crawfish wading around the big Sioux

Yeah 212,I've been told those two big lakes hold decent walleye population, never fished em usually hit the shield lakes near webster.

Ya kampeska and pelican both had decent fish i spent lots of time riding my bike out there fishing

Growing up in Harvey, I would go to the river right below the Dam. And catch lots of them. They were big ones. I would take a 2 piece minnow trap and split then and would put a couple of rock in the bottom and put fish gut or any kind of bird that I shot. And let them soak for a few hrs. I always used them for bait. I caught lots of Walleyes and Northerns using them. I would run a hook up thru the front of the tail and come out top. And keep them a foot or so off the bottom with a bobber. They could still swim backwards. I would use a side Cutter and cut the claw/pinchers off or one per side.

Picking thru them yes, if you would trap them for a couple of days you could have a good boil.
