Creek Chub?

Ive never caught any that large, 4-6 inches is more common around here.

10 inchers won't fit in a trap. You'd have to catch them. It would be tough to get em that big.

Call me full of myself, but I'm pretty sure no one has caught as many 10" creek chubs as myself on this web page, and I can tell you it's maybe 1-2 per year. That's like asking for 14 pound walleyes for bait.

Years ago my brother and I caught large chubs on dry flies and kept them in a stock tank. I dont remember ever seeing a 10 inch. Many six inch and a rare eight inch. What I do remember is walking along the creek that had a four foot deep spot maybe two feet wide and 20 feet long spaced 20 feet apart. So they wouldn't see us we used a long pole with about six feet of line and when we dropped a fly a dozen or more fish would try take it.

They spawn in the spring. When I was a kid we would catch them all summer. If you do catch them and try to keep. Cover the tanks with a lid. They love to jump out of the water from my experience.

If you can get a bait to them they can be caught. They're much more voracious in late spring/summer and a pain in the ass if you're after trout. I could get 100+ a day back in the Hills.
