My lady friend and I are at odds about how to stack clean cups in the cupboard.

Ive always put them with the rims down, but she thinks the cupboard could be dirty/dusty and they should be placed with the rims up.

What is the 'best' way to stack cups and why?

Hand her a glass with a boxelder bug or a spider in it and she will change her mind.

As long as I don't have to wash them, I really don't think I have a dog in the fight to be honest.

Throw them in the sink and she can put them away and way she wants.

A really good coffee cup get washed only when its capacity is diminished by build-up. Seriously, my mugs rarely get washed. They're used nearly every day, and they're seasoned perfectly. Don't ask to borrow one. You won't like it.

Down in my house. If she thinks the cabinets are dirty tell her to get to cleaning.

We switched to cups up a few years ago. It seemed like a bad smell was getting trapped in the glasses when they were upside down. When they are open side up, they get a chance to breathe. I don't know if the smell came from the dish washing chemicals or from the shelves, but it's gone now that we go cups up.

we do open sides up too because of the above. just got to make sure they are dry before you stack them or you will get moisture caught between them. which of course is a problem with open sides down too.

kinda random at guyandgalwhodrink's house - we unload the dishwasher after toddy time - sometimes the next day I find them up and sometimes down

everything in moderation is our motto

why is there no "we have no fixed glass/cup plan" category?
