For the record i have nothing against the wages that are posted, my gripe is with the overall beurocratic process of holding people accountable for shitty workmanship, again federal or state employees should be held to a higher standing and if they cannot perform to that standard they should be able to be fired ASAP. Federal or state workers believe their job security is never in question and those with sub par work ethic should be let go. One only needs to use California as an example of incompetence when it comes to sub par accountability, and i am afraid by those who are sticking up for removing waste and terminating bad employees tells me they dont think there is a problem.

I have an issue with the wage if its substantially higher then the private sector..private cant compete...it also makes my insane taxes even higher..like i posted in another section i could have purchased a dam nice vehicle for the amount i paid in federal taxes ti support inflated wages...i am not against a decent living though..that why it should be within a percentsge of private..i do get where the union wages show 44 an hour or more therefore justifying the higher govt wage. I would argue that the perks of working for the feds could justify a lower wage as the perks/benefits are of value.

The problem and that is used very lightly is that north dakota as a state has the overall revenue to pay those wages, supply and demand is what drives wage prices. Anyone can become a professional tradesmen if they have the capacity and time to achieve it. Unfortunately western north dakota effects the prices of living for the whole state and that includes everything.

A friend has been working in Alaska for a number of years. The company he works for landed a federal government contract this spring. He isn't up there yet but has notified of a huge pay increase. His company has to pay scale.

Sorry for poking you so hard, but like many I think you have fallen for the politician with one hand in your pocket and the other pointing at the federal employee. So what do you think of a farmer I know who takes in subsidies ( tax dollars) that equal five to ten times a fed employee salary? One works for himself for that money and the other works for everyone. This isn't as cut and dried as the politician wants us to think. The liberal politician today wants to take your money an give it to someone who will support them. The conservative politician wants to take your money and give it to someone who supports them. Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors.

I think the problem today is that politicians lack the integrity they had years ago. Today they appoint heads of departments that hire people who think like them, and corrupt with money those who are already there. They reward the college professors that produce all the little marxists.

All the above is confusing because I remember daddy Bush as president having a study done to pay feds comparable to private. I would have tecieved a 37% pay raise. I was all excited, but then before he could pull it off Clinton won the election and gave us a big goose egg.

If you want to see a big "DAM" waste of money check out the emergency spillway on the pipestem and they're still not finished with it yet. In 50 years since it's been built not one drop of water passed over the old emergency spillway.

Sorry guys but I dont have a problem with funding going to anything that deals with infrastructure, that is including spillways, bridges, streets, highways or interstates, our infrastructure as a whole is been neglected by state and federal governments for far too long.

This is the main thing driving the upcoming work on Garrison Dam. One must remember that when the dam was originally designed and built, they only had 30 to 40-some years worth of hydrologic data. Now, there's over 100 years of data and the current design for the emergency spillway is not large enough to safely pass a Probable Maximum Flood.

I think all federal employees need their wages reviewed also...i have a couple friends who work gov and are paid way more then they are worth...comes out of our pocket. I believe the dept of transporatation employees average around 110k. I am not against a good income but when tax payors are funding it they need to be within reason.

Really - so a 25% pay gap between government employees pay and their private sector counterparts is not enough?
