Hey, just curious if anyone uses a deeper for ice fishing. I bought one second hand and am trying to figure the thing out.::thinking::

I think they would be alright .. portable and less to carry plus nothing for the fish to tangle up with when your reeling them in .... Downsides of worry about battery life on the sonar and your cell phone... I know my cell phone drains battery pretty bad.

Good luck let us know what you think

guessing you might have some problems with it reading bottom/fish with it sitting at the top of the ice and not just below it.

ccarver80, I just bring a phone charger with me in the ice house, and the batter on the sonar lasts a couple trips. Wags, the main problem I am having is theres a lot of interference from other sonars, being I can only adjust the sensitivity instead of the htz

The Deeper isn't too bad for ice fishing. I've got last years model, not the Pro one (I can't make contour maps with mine). There's a fair amount of lag from when you jig your rod to when you see your jig move on your screen - to me, that's the biggest downfall. My battery lasted about 6 hours the other weekend, not too bad. Keep a portable charger with to give it a boost if needed. I'll be keeping mine in my shack just as a backup or if I have someone else come along.

I remember you posting your find on this site, looking for the owner. By your post today, I gather that you never did found out who'd lost it?

JK A feller posted on fishing buddy that he bought one and casted it out and the line broke so his two boys chased it down the river as far as they could but it got away and they were heartbroken. A week or two later the trickster AKA johnr earned the first ever NDA hook line and sinker award.
