Had a large herd come by second week of Dec and not seen one again. Sign of tough winter to come maybe. LB

Just herding up and yarding is all...they'll be fine, this nice break of weather has been perfect for them to "beefen" up even more..

I drive a lot for work. We do not see deer anywhere we would usually see deer this time of year. Don't even cut the usual tracks in the snowy ditches from the cover area to the grazing areas, bean stubble, alfalfa etc. Nothing. Places where you can look for a mile or more off the side of the road and normally see the smaller groups you would see grazing during the late afternoon of a nicer winter, nothing.

Had a buddy sighting in one of his thermals Saturday afternoon into dusk and had a pair out on the cut corn. Probably about 300-350yds or so from us, not the first time there has been shooting going on and they just come out and feed

I’m fixing to hunt the last weekend of upland, I’d say winter has yet to arrive.
Early in’s and late out’s stress and kill game.. so far so good.

Got a large group of poplar trees east of the yard surrounded by cropland and a little alfalfa. Most years the deer take off and head to their wintering grounds the 1st cold snap or 1st storm. Usually is during November when they leave. This year they're still hanging out there, just traveling a bit further to feed. I think the last winter that deer stayed there all winter was in the mid 2000s.

Yeah but some areas have little snow. Some are crusted bad with 3 foot drifts in the coulees. Its not easy walking in n.w nd but crusty as all hell. Prolly like 8 inches. On the ground. But it drifted up bad. But its crusty so hard to kill a bird.
