Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis)
State record caught in Devils Lake 1993, 20 lbs, 12 oz. Its on display in Grand Forks scheels. Don’t know the story about where the stocking brood came from or what size when stocked.

White Bass (Morone chrysops)
State record caught in Devils Lake 2012, 4 lbs 10 oz (though I think there was a slightly bigger one caught through the ice more recently). Originally stocked in 1971, adults transplanted from Tschida.

Anyway. Two entirely different species. Not sure what you’re getting at.
Oh so you guys think they stocked striped bass in devils lake back in the 80s, ...rofl... I have never heard of that. Someone will have to produce some evidence to back that claim up. Since I have never seen one in person or know anyone who has caught one. I have fished devils lake all my life

I dont know where you are getting your information from but there is no striped bass in this record list for north dakota pdf

Lincoln, kinda...
NDGF deleted the striped bass record off its website a number of years ago. I don't think they ever gave a reason for doing so. But...if I had to guess, it has something to do with not rubbing salt in Canada and Minnetucky's wounds for stocking them in the first place.

Unless you can prove to me striped bass were stocked in devils lake in the 80s I will be the first to admit I was wrong, I originally thought that the poster miss spoke and that he meant white bass.
https://www.dnr.state.mi.us/publica...sheryResourceReports/0042_1993_DevilsLake.pdf
This article talks about net surveys as well as other fish that were stocked backed then and nothing is brought up about striped bass. Like i said unless someone can prove to me proof striped bass were stocked I don't it.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/bismarck-angler-catches-7-pound-rare-european-zander-on-spiritwood-lake#:~:text=The Game and Fish Department stocked Spiritwood with 180,000 European,of Manitoba, Herald archives show.
This article proves they did, which was easy to find why its not in the record books is because the ndgf discontinued the stocking of zanders. Perhaps there is an article on the striped bass that hangs up in the shceels sports store someone can find atleast that would give us some information.

One simple google, from the northland outdoors gf herald / forum. https://www.inforum.com/sports/nort...inations-in-the-u-s-while-brainerd-ranks-no-1

As for striped bass, here’s the story:

According to Herald archives, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department stocked 13,000 striped bass fingerlings in Devils Lake in 1977 as part of a one-time stocking effort. The last reported catch occurred in 1993, when a Grand Forks angler landed a 20-pound, 12-ounce striped bass that stands as the North Dakota state record.

Only two other records of striped bass are documented in the Game and Fish Department’s Whopper Club listings: an 18-pound striper caught in May 1989 and a 16-pound, 7-ounce striped bass caught in May 1988.

Thanks Bravo that is something I was unaware of and I stand corrected again. Same as large and small mouth bass were once part of the basin but for whatever reason are no longer part of the lake now. Again I did search but nothing popped up Thanks again

I never knew Devils Lake had largemouth and smallmouth bass before. What else do you know about that?

DL was also stocked with musky at least once, can't remember if they were pure or tiger.
I'd forgotten about that . I think they were tiger muskie , Metigoshe must have been stocked with them too , I caught a little one back in the 80s.

Post #28 has some extensive information devils lake
Tiger muskellunge fingerlings were first stocked in Devils Lake in 1961. An electrofishing survey in 1964 resulted in the capture of no muskies. "Tigers" were stocked again in 1976 and a subsequent survey in 1978 resulted in the capture of no muskies. Tiger muskellunge were stocked on an alternate year basis from 1978through 1990 with limited success and few reports from anglers have been received. This stocking program was discontinued in 1992. This pdf was published in 1993
