Yup, been filling for about 20 years, my kids are always filling off my tank, from 20 to 100#ers, the system needs a dip tube to suck fluid from bottom of big tank.

Why would meth people like that? You must be thinking of NH3 instead. They take the propane tanks and empty them out and fill with anhydrous

My guess is their stealing propane to cook the shit, no experience but only a guess.

That seems damn high considering all you need for your house tank is a T and a valve. So the expensive piece would be the fitting to an OPD valve. I have a hose/fitting setup for my propane blower/heater. Just thinking about that one could take that and use it to fill with because it has an OPD fitting on it. Just have to set it up with quick disconnects on the hose/tank/blower. I would think this would be the most expensive fitting? https://propanewarehouse.com/shop/fittings/acme-fittings/1-516-acme-opd-x-14-fnpt/
It requires a separate valve and dip tube on your big tank. The line coming out of your tank and going to your house is vapour and not liquid.

What about Natural gas? I am not one of the lucky ones with a big propane tank in the yard, but I do run most of the home off of NG. Would be cool to start tapping into that and convert my little buddy to a little NG buddy.

Don't think that will work. The gas to the house is very low pressure - the regulator lowers the pressure to 5 to 7 ounces. You would have to make a hot tap into the gas line in front of the regulator in what is the gas company's piping. Very much a no - no.

Back in the day, we used to cool off our warm beer by taking our fill hose on the big propane tank and spray our beer cans and super cooled them down fast. Then we would have to throw them in water to rinse off the stink and pour the beer into a mug so you didn't smell propane.
Needless to say my Dad wasn't impressed!

The gas company will hunt you down and pull your toenails out with a plier. You would be safer having sex with your neighbors wife.

An important rule while filling tanks at home is to wait to have a cig until you close the valves...

I was under the impression that all tanks had a dip tube for the purpose of emptying ♂️

Yes they do. I should be more specific. The dip tube doesn’t come with a valve to use to fill smaller tanks, you have to buy that separately.
