What’s one piece of gear that won’t leave the house without? Besides a gun and ammo what do you consider essential? For me, it’s been water. I carry probably too much but there’s probably going to be a time where I really need it and I’ll be glad I have it.

My gerber original multi tool followed VERY closely by a good fixed blade 5-6 inch knife. Both of those can provide moisture if a man knows where to look.

I’m guilty of not carrying a multi tool. I carry a buck 110 and a havalon knife. Could probably swap the havalon for the multi tool and be more prepared.

Same here. gun, shells ,knife, bino, flashlights and a pocket full of toilet paper. cell phone optional but I only get a mile from the house.

I'm the same way about water. I have to have water near me no matter what I'm doing

Depends on what I’m hunting I’d it’s a week long back pack trip it’s a lot different than going to shoot geese. A med kit for my dog is one thing I always have it works for humans to

I have a leatherman on my belt every day in the last 20 plus years. Had to check it a couple of times and left a couple of pissant events when a couple of slizz balls wanted to me to leave it with them. Some parachute cord is very handy.

Over the last 15 yrs I have taken close to 30 guys from my work. Predator hunting/calling. I have my calls and my rifle. I have maybe 3 or 4 extra shells in a pocket. And my parachute cord drag. No field glasses/ binoculars no backpack. Just about every guy put a backpack on and had to have one or two water bottles plus extra gloves and hat. And 2 or 3 extra mags for the AR-15. Most of the time we would be less than a 1/2 mile from the pickup

If hunting with a dog gotta have a leatherman to pull quills and something capable of cutting a cable snare. Otherwise a knife, piece of parachute cord and GU energy gel packs (I’m diabetic and need them if I get low blood sugar).

OK, we’re in the bird hunting forum. For me, that’s going to be upland bird hunting as I really don’t hunt waterfowl. As such, when I get out of the pickup I’ll have a shell/bird carrying vest, a couple 16-32Oz squeeze bottles of water for the dog, and whatever pocket knife I happened to grab that day.

I keep a lot of stuff in the door pockets and cubby’s of my pickup though. Victorinox multi-tool, a needle-driver and a good forceps for porkie-quills, etc. a package of Vicril sutures already on a needle, disposable scalpel, gauze, quick-clot, vet-wrap. Couple small tool kits w/replaceable bits, 1/4” and whatever the micro-sized models are. 12’ tape measure, hitch coupler pins, cotter pins, 3M Supper 33+ electrical tape, synthetic gun lube, a spare shotgun plug, several fixed-blade knives of different shapes/sizes. 12 and 20 Ga choke tube wrench w/thread chase, spare dog whistle, badger-hair shaving brush for removing dust and debris from really dirty/dusty optics lenses l, probably other stuff I’m forgetting.

I have a full toolbox, impact wrench, floor jack, gun, scissors, knife, zip ties, WD40, glass cleaner, break cleaner, box of towels, several sets of gloves, aspirin, tums, breath mints, case of water, couple buckets, spare winter gear, ratchet straps, some cash, and various other items I pack around in my pickup at all times. Every week I use some part of the stash.

If out walking around, I have a pocket knife, and clean underwear on...

I carry the original Leatherman SuperTool. I think I'm on my 4th one at this point, but it gets used every...single...day for something. Other than that, I pack according to the day's activities. And yes, I am that guy living out of his truck when out hunting the badlands. Extra clothes, food/snacks, water, knife, binos, paper towels, rope, maps/GPS, rubber gloves, baggies are all things one might find in my backpack depending on the terrain and anticipated victims.
