In a serendipitous circumstance, I discovered the Fargo Ducks Unlimited banquet is tomorrow (Sept. 15) at the Speedway in West Fargo. I was actually considering attending the Fergus Falls banquet, but then discovered there was one going on the same day that wouldn't involve a 1.5-hour drive.

Considering attending with my 3-year-old. Maybe a recipe for disaster, but he's pretty darn good for a toddler. Anyone else planning to go? Wouldn't mind having someone to chat with during the festivities.

Speaking of which, has this thing even been advertised? I tried looking up more information and literally could only find details from the main DU website.

I heard nothing about it this year. Tomorrow does not work for me. Have fun if you go.

I would go with my oldest son, if I could find a baby sitter for the other 3. Is it an invitation only gig? Went to a Whitetails one this spring and had fun.

I have no clue. There's a way to buy tickets online from ducks.org but I'd rather just get them at the door.

I checked the Fargo DU Facepage and they haven't had an update in over a year.

So...maybe there will be a REALLY good chance of winning stuff if nobody shows up.

Just talked to the main dude and he said you can just show up at the door. My kiddo is free, so he'll be a cheap date.

Should be fun! He's all about ducks and hunting now after our goose hunt. If he can sit still, it'll be a fun night. Ha!

Have fun and hopefully you win something! I will be attending the Bismarck event tonight at the Ramkota as well.

After DU spent millions of dollars promoting and lying about a ballot initiative that the majority of its members opposed, only to secure 20% of the votes, they won't get another dime from me. Well intentioned as they may be, they burned the members BIG TIME. All the good they've done in the past flew out the window with their credibility.

If anyone can recommend a worthwhile waterfowl group that did NOT support that attrocity of a ballot initiative, please let me know. I'll gladly send a check.

Surprised there hasn't been more discussion about "what if m.5 would have passed?" with the oil slowdown...
That said, I'm still for something like it if it would be well planned out. The Heritage fund has already done good things with limited resources (e.g. 20,000 acres of PLOTS in badlands)...

I have been to this one a few times. Kind of seems like the good old boys club. Not a lot of tickets sold so better chance at winning something. They always have ribs for the meal and its all you can eat.

Now im thinking if I should go.

If guys are really hung up on DU (which, hey, I can see why) the PF banquet is next week on the 22nd! Same place, pretty sure about the same time.

So pick your poison.

I might show up to make a scene and protest. Liberal land grabbing pieces of shit. I'll never forget what they tried to do

This is just a shitty situation. DU was one group where I was confident the money was directly going to improving hunting opportunities for me and my kids and my kid's friends etc. Then they blow a couple million bucks within a few months on fighting their own members. This isn't just a chip on my shoulder, those guys f***ed me and a lot of my friends and family. They used my money against me. That hurts. Their strategy should include cleaning house and starting over.

I agree, haven't renewed my membership, or gone to any banquets since.

I spend my fair share at these types of fundraisers, so if we all took a stand, it could prove more of our point. Plenty of other banquets to try to win a gun at.

True. Except I feel the same about Delta Waterfowl as you guys do DU. But I really love duck hunting.

Hmmm. I have an idea: Anyone want to help me start the North Dakota Waterfowl Association?!

I've never understood the land grabbing argument. If I remember correctly that money had to be used in state. And DU can't buy land here. Nor can any other corporation buy ag land. (Which is bs IMO)

SHHHH! Keep that shit down. Do you want to awaken the GST??

You just used "DU," "Land Grab," "Corporation" and "AG" all in the same post. That's the equivalent of saying "Candyman" three times in the mirror.

This thread is F'd.

perpetuial easments and now oil is down how would have the state funded it? DU is just a good ol boys political org to set up sweet hunting camps for them selves. Sprinkle in a few things here and there for the public and make it look good. To bad good concept ruined by greedy high class duck hunters

Dead honest question: What would make a GOOD nonprofit hunting/conservation organization? In your eyes?

In that same breath, do you view PF higher than DU or DWF?
