My 25+ year old cherry tree getting into full bloom. It has 4 different cherries grafted onto it: bing, Lapin, Queen Anne and van. 15 years ago I was getting gallons of cherries. Now I'm getting very few because there are NO bees in residential San Jose. It doesn't really matter to me because the cherries ripen around Memorial Day weekend and we are at Metigoshe by then. Just shows how much pesticides change the environment.

Today I rode the bike to the gas station and renewed the tabs, cleaned and reorganized the garage, and put all the ice fishing gear away. Now I have room in the garage to get the boat out of storage and get it ready for the water.
I did the same thing, but the boat part, as i store that at home already.

Three things MUST be present at the same time for me to feel comfortable saying spring is here. One, Robins! Two, Mourning Doves! Three, Wood Ducks!

Nah, wound it and you will be surprised at its production. Fruit trees are weird like that, they get complacent. So you have to prune it harshly and it triggers a need to reproduce, which means more fruit for you. I have a pear tree in my yard, it's some 30 yrs old at this point. Previous owner said it "was" a great producer but that it hadn't produced much in the past several years. I trimmed it up pretty hard, even taking off some 4-6" diameter branches and the next summer it produced around a thousand pounds of pears.

I think I need to do it again...

But seriously, make your tree think it's going to die.
