Saw my first sandhill cranes of the year today in south central ND. About 20 or so. While I realize this isnt uncommon, it seems a week or two earlier than I normally start seeing them. These cold fronts must be shaking em loose up north already.

I see cranes in MN all summer in any open ag/hay fields from DL over to the E side of Mille Lacs any anywhere N of there. The rusty colored yearlings are easy to mistake for a "red summer coat" deer when they're bent over feeding and the sun catches them just right.
