What specifically is unappealing?Gross
Rock bass . . .What specifically is unappealing?
I always found them in a river, usually in low rocky areas with quite a bit of current. Also: I don't know how to "target" freakn' rock bass or if it's possible. They always seem to be "there".
I have zero proof: Back in the day; back in the Hills: "Greg" caught an 8in specimen and decided to release it in his uncle's farm pond. Two years later; he caught it again: "12in/1 1/2lb": That was the last encounter.
The pond is still good for bass and the occasional "white" crappie. Bluegill don't last long. They're either huge or nonexistent: ZERO channel or bullhead catfish: Accidental wisdom?
The pond should get fathead minnows each Fall for fodder under the "ice". It's under new ownership. I hope they don't fuck it up:

Anyways--the point of the thread was BATTER.
That is all.
dangUsed to catch a few when fishing for sunnies. Cleaned them he same and cooked them the same as panfish, good. LB
The question in the original post was are they gross or tasty? Also: I don't know how to "target" freakn' rock bass or if it's possible. They always seem to be "there".

And I thought we determined you made an assumption?...Did you take a marijuana? The question in the original post was are they gross or tasty?
I responded gross.
"Needing" was never in the equation...If you need to put hot sauce on a fish, you need to catch a different fish.....or clean them better.....or do something better, as most fish here in the upper midwest are good to eat given the correct catch conditions and care upon cleaning. IMO.
Very argumentative. You are proof that there is one in every village .
