here is the food plot shortly after being sprayed got the feeder out there and a mineral site going with trail cams on both, and got my apple trees on the far side of the food plot, with my plum shrubs in the bottom right on the picture in the taller grass.

here is my feeder site, i left a good portion of a tree right in my plot which works perfect for holding a trail cam!

here is one of the posts of my fence protecting my 3 apple trees with a camera on it pointing at my mineral site, also in the background you can see the location on my tree stand, and it is harder to see but there is another stand in that tree to the right that is out in the food plot a little more, this set will be used strictly for filming.

soybeans are starting to poke through, with this heat, and the round up killing off the grasses competing against the beans im hoping to see some decent green by the end of next week! time will tell!

here is a picture of my apple tree starting to flower! i noticed a couple bees flying in the general area and some ants on the apple trees so they should pollinate very well, i was told to pull the fruit off the tree that starts to develope the first couple years so that growth goes toward the tree and not toward fruit? is this true what do i pull off? wait til the apples get bigger then pull them?

hope you guys arent getting sick of my updates on the food plot, this is the first one i have ever done mostly all by myself and from scratch, there is definitely a learning curve, and i have a lot more to learn but you gotta start somewhere!

I don't have a food plot, so I'm living vicariously through yours and NOW I'm going to need to see how those apple blossoms are doing. Your food plots are kind of like my outdoor soap opera. "The Progress of the Plot."

my biggest concern was getting a handle on the weeds and grass so i needed something i could spray round up on, we will see how it all transpires i may rip it up and plant something else for the fall once i get all the nuisance weeds killed down, the whole trail is planted in soys too

Allen,
Few years back I put in some Cabelas chickory blend along the river by my place. Grew really good. Deer didn't touch it though, until the first big snow. Then they cleaned it out in just a couple days.

So any updates on how this is turning out? I have been kicking the idea around of doing one also.

Well my plot certainly isn't just jumping out of the ground which is depressing. But I do have some beans coming up and I went in there last weekend and planted more soybeans by hand just casting them out. I have gotten a couple decent rains on them so I'm hoping they will take. My plot is also due for another round of spray. We will see what takes. I will most likely be tilling it up this fall and planting something to keep them through the winter.

My food plot has been in the ground 9 days. I had pretty decent emergence considering I planted into a less than desireable seed bed. Corn is V1-V2 and the beans are at cotyledon. I lucked out with very timely rains to get it going this last week.

Another thing you could try is RR alfalfa. This year I decided one of my corn food plots was to big so I planted a strip of RR alfalfa on the west edge and the deer are loving it

I went with Sunflowers this year and I think they are going to be dandy . It was wet up here so I broadcast them and pulled a One way. I am surprised to see them coming up even where it was sod on the outside of the plots. First time ever for flowers so I didn't know what to expect

Unless you plant a lot of flowers the deer will mow all the developing heads off in the summer... they love em! Small plots only will feed them for a couple weeks in late july.

ive never even thought about flowers... do the deer actually hit them?
Deer love sunflowers bigtime. Nice job on the food plot by the way. where i am hunting there is so much row crop that i think alfalfa is a great thing to attract deer.
