On my first post of this topic is the plot and his ground blind is right on the north side and to the west of the line of those trees 80 yards north of my stand. db

Put up about 3 no hunting or trespassing signs right by his blind along the property line and then hide a camera overlooking the plot. You'll get pics of them trespassing if they shoot a deer on your property if they go retrieve it or walk across it. I know its possible for that deer to run outside your property lines to expire, but there's a chance you could catch them if they drop it right where its standing.

There isn't much you can gripe about since they are hunting land they have a legal right to be on. That's what sucks about small areas.

your right, no gripe, life to short and I am as happy as I can be.
What the hell. They are farmers who I know between land ownership and rented there is 1000s of acres. But they have never develop an area for their own use so just maepie off someone else.
that's the democrat way. (ah the republicans are the same) db

DB how wide is the area in front of his blind that has good cover? Had buddy with this problem and he pounded in wood posts and put steel panels that are used in roofing and he ran them horizontal and went 6' high. Blocked their view totally. We had a good laugh over it. I guess if they brought in an elevated stand he would of had to come up with something else.

How much snow you got there? We got plenty in this area to play around in the tractor for a few hours and build a pretty big snow dyke all the way along the property line. Next Spring I'd maybe consider a little fencing.

On the other hand, it's probably not worth it to get worked up about, life's too short to be pissed off all the time. I would probably be walking my dog out there quite a bit while they were hunting though...

Have you and your son approached the new neighbor and visited with them about the situation? Maybe, just maybe, things could be more understood if you guys would have a conversation about your concerns before any shenanigans start. ????? Worth a shot, at least you might feel better about the situation and they would understand if you do have to resort to some THINGS.

Fish On!!

When i first seen the blind I went off and overreacted I guess. Had time to settle down and last night found a decent deer at the other plot and have hopes for four other plots too. Try calling the owner. It just after close to twenty years of finally having some land ownership be it 1.8 acres it feels good for this town person. Many hours of enjoyment. many monies paid to develop. a farm boy that now gets to plant and see the fruits of his harvest, peaceful, it has been great and not happy about sharing it with whoever.
In the plot the deer will go on both sides of a block.
The answer for me is to learn how to live with it today and more than likely for the next years so maybe need to abandon this site as that may be the best answer. I can move it about 1/2 mile away and that would get me away from whoever. So next year will decide on that. It time my son could bring it back so will keep the cult acres clean of weeds.

But it has really help to visit on here and get the inputs from all of you.
I did post a picture of 4 coyotes in the camera from last night at the other site on the top post. However my name was on it so I had NDA take it off. So my plot will now be my coyote stand and I will get my coyote call out and do some coyote hunting be there a coyote or not.
Again thanks to all. DB

if you don't want the deer in the plot for the next 3 weeks go dump a bunch of fish guts and bird carcasses or pile of chicken bones out there and the coyotes will keep them out for you... i know this because i had some hunters dump their gut piles near my blind last year (they were told they could, to their defense they didn't realize what would happen)

Yes that is right bowhunter and it is a real concern so one needs to watch. I did post a nice deer at the beginning of this topic.
However that deer ended up on facebook as that is where the hunter let it be. Got a lot more information there and someone put it on FB under trail camera picture so it gets out.
One gets a nice deer and one wants to bring it to a deer show. We both know what can happen then. It is what it is and we need to understand the risk of showing a picture or bring to a show.

Big deer do not have twins but then everyone things so and they will come to visit you if they find out you have a big one even from twenty years ago. I believe those pictures may have brought my neighbor to my stand.
However it was not harvested there and we live with it. At this time I do not have a shootable buck in my eyes there but I am sure the neighbor thinks so. One may show up after the rut.

I was siting on road in 95 with my brother when he stated we are done chasing deer. The deer can come to us and they do. If people would understand that and put the effort into it and help provide for the deer they would not need to go to the neighbors to hunt. I did not understand that at one time either. There is plenty of hunting spots out there and if one only asked the land owners one would be surprise how receptable some of the land owners are. I have 1.8 acres with four plots not on my land and then there is a huge refuge to hunt on here.
It takes understanding, time and effort if wants to harvest a large deer. I had one from about 8 years ago. It sat in the basement for 3 years and only my family knew. Then one day it went to a deer show under a buddies name and he won first place.

Bow hunter, I guess I am still to quick to act and accept my apology for jumping the gun with you. thanks for your input. db

That sucks they did that but if i had to sit in a blind and wait for deer to come to me i dont know if i could do it. Spot and stalk is what gets me excited.

tfk:
The owner in Canada just return my call.
Said he was not aware of this and was upset about it, said there is to be no hunting on this land by anybody including the renters and he will see what he can do about it. So I did not talk to the person putting the stand up (not sure who) but to the owner in Eastern Canada.
Maybe it will be taken care of. db
Kurtr:
I have try that stalk but little patience for it. Seen video of people getting so close they grab the horns so it would be a rush. But I guess I have patience sitting in an enclosed stand with a heater and just watching all out there. Mule deer hunt, glass and find but no stand or heater so I guess that maybe consider stalking.

Best of luck DB! I think the worst part is watching all of your hard work and dedication be ruined by someone who wants to come in last minute without any work or effort. I also agree with talking to landowners. I get access to some great property close to my house just because i showed up and asked. I’ve been floored by how many landowners have allowed me on. It goes to show that being polite and respectful goes a long ways!

When I was young would see fox but now very few so nice to get this picture and then ten minutes later his bigger cousin comes in.
So my plot has not only got a blind next to it the elk have come. last night 6 bull elks and a bunch of cow/calves. does not take them long to eat all.
So I think I will give up and abandon the site. over weekend got another site going so will focus on the other sites that we have for the rest of the year. Building the stand tonight. db
