I understand your confusion, and it’s my fault. The tax dollars will stay here in ND feeding kids breakfast and lunch. It’s the out of state progressive groups that are pushing and funding the no vote on measure 2. Why do you suppose they are doing that?
So does this 167 million or whatever it is above and beyond the fed money? Or is this figure without the fed money

This was not put initiated by " we the people " it was put forward by the government. The government wants " we the people" to have less control. now if this was an initiated measure by " we the people" I would be more likely to vote for it.

Are you " government" or and average " we the people"
I am for less government just like you. With a 60% threshold we could have less government, not more. At least that's how I see it, you probably wont and that's ok, we can disagree on it then.

Measure 1 was initiated by legislature, that's the only path they have to make a constitutional change. I believe it to be a good change and will protect we the people voters from out of state progressive outfits that have a keen interest in changing our constitution and mandating their agenda.

Then I assume you are voting for measure 2, which is more government. But that measure was initiated by "we the people", namely Amy Jacobson and the Together for School Meals committee. Jacobson is executive director of Prairie Action ND, a progressive policy group. Here are her own words from her Linkedin page, they are right at the top, maybe you agree with her political beliefs, I have no idea:

I am a North Dakota-based political strategist, communications leader, and advocate working to build power, advance progressive change, and lift up diverse voices.

Through 701 Strategy Group, which I co-found in 2023, I support candidates, advocacy organizations, and issue campaigns with political consulting, communications strategy, messaging development, digital advocacy, and media amplification. I also founded Elevate Academy, a leadership development program that helps emerging leaders prepare to run for office, advocate effectively, and build lasting power in their communities.

My career has centered on advocacy for women, families, reproductive freedom, human rights, and democracy in North Dakota. I previously served for 15 years as the first staff person and North Dakota State Director for Planned Parenthood in North Dakota, and spent 13 years on the board of the North Dakota Women’s Network, where I chaired the State Legislative Committee and co-created WE Rise: Women Empowered, the state’s first women’s lobby day at the Capitol.

I have led and supported successful statewide ballot measure campaigns protecting reproductive freedom, human rights, and direct democracy in North Dakota.

I am a proud North Dakota native, NDSU graduate, Distinguished Alumni honoree, and YWCA Cass Clay Woman of the Year.

Not all constitutional changes are bad, some are a legit change that needs to be made, like measure 1, but I believe constitutional measures have to have more that a simple 50% plus one vote to pass as I explained earlier.
In the case of measure one, the legislature put it forth because they are trying to protect not only our state constitution from ridiculous measures but also on behalf of us. I don't believe the legislature wants us to have less control, I believe that they want to protect what we have and make it more difficult for the progressives to change our constitution and fundamentally change our state.

I suspect you wont agree and that's just fine, its ok to have a different opinion and I appreciate the debate.

And again, please everyone get out and exercise your right to vote!

That is an estimate of what it will cost the taxpayers of ND, to be taken out of the Legacy fund. Your number is a little high but probably more correct than the official estimate of $124.3 million to $134.3 million per biennium starting in 2027–2029. I think that estimate will prove to be low.
As far as federal funding, not really sure about that, why would we need a federal handout if we the people are going to fund it?

Democracy 50% plus one. Mob rule. We don't live in a democracy. We live in a Republic.

That teacher sure turned quickly, must not like having to pay $4.50 for his lunch daily?
Seems an odd argument that the kids that are currently getting free food is not enough?
