Shot plenty of geese over just about every decoy out there,infact mid 80's we had those giant 42" shell dekes and whacked limits back then,I spent one year hunting the front range of Colorado,pit blinds and silhouettes cut out of 4'sheets of plywood,painted all black except for the white under the face,geese/mallards loved'em.
These days we sold our two 16" trailers and 50dozen FB's and use deadly and silo socks,some old shells and silhoettes for fillers around the layouts,plenty good shooting over this setup including mallards,easy storage and easy on the pocket book.
Early season we use a few dozen shells in small family groups,young stupid birds decoy just fine,leave the A team(better dekes) for later in the regular season if you use FB dekes.
