Them buggers must have a tough mouth , raspberry canes are like thistle or rose thorns almost have to wear gloves to touch them and the deer eat them like candy.

The soil in the garden is that sandy loam that likes to turn into cement when it drys so I thought I would lay grass clippings in between the rows to help keep the soil from drying out too much, but clippings attract mosquitoes. So is there an insecticide that I can spray between my garden rows that will kill the mosquitoes but won't harm my plants?

You know I had never thought of using the clippings being an attractant to mosquitoes. I like using them they really hold the water longer and suppress some weeds. Problem I had is when the clippings are layered in pretty deep the bottom layer gets smeary and rotten from being wet all the time. This a big type of grub which I don't think hurt the plants any but birds come in and scratch it around pretty bad looking for these grubs.

When I had my raised garden, RR ties, in devils lake, I would have all kinds of mosquitoes that laid in the clippings and come out when I would water the plants in the evening. I've been considering tempo but it doesn’t say anything about harmful to garden plants. I know clippings helps with sandy loam soil and that it doesn't get a hard crust.

What is everyone's go to way to use fertilizer on your garden? I bought garden hose auto feeder adaptor that connects to the faucet then attach to the garden hose. Is it better to use granular or liquid fertilizer for garden?
Also has anyone heard of cross pollination from field corn ruining their garden corn?

For fertilizer, Im using Jacks Starter mixed 50/50 with urea, dissolved in hot water to make a concentrate, and then I dilute the concentrate using the dosatron when watering my garden and orchard using drip irrigation.

I just bring 5-gallon buckets to work (24000-ton plant) and make up my own blend, a little ammonium sulfate, potash, and phosphorus, no urea, don't ask me the analyses.

my custom mix of granular is 60% MAP, 30% Urea, 10% ammonium sulfate, if I had it to do over though I would add 10% K and reduce the MAP by 10%. Maybe next time.

Find out that cows like young pepper plants. They ate the tops off or pulled them out by the roots right out of my raised buckets. Missing 24 by last count. Wife and I spent the morning putting up electric fence around our yard. I also had a pile of square bale straw that I use around plants that is now a 30 ft circle of loose shit on straw. Fun Day.
