You laugh. I beg to differ with the humor. The fuel bill should NOT be forwarded to anyone. There is nothing magical about including fuel cost increases or decreases in a business model. Nor should shipping cost increases or decreases be passed on to anyone. How does being self employed absolve the business owner of taking into account rising or lowering costs of any one metric? If you start a business, you are entirely responsible for it's success or failure. When did it become fashionable to blame someone else for the decisions you yourself make?

When we started bailing out auto industries , farmers , airlines ..... and the list goes on. I remember a farmer who got forgiven 200k loan from my bank back in the 80s , It was front page local newspaper.

That''s a good question . In my opinion , Marko Rubio.

He stood out to me as a smart, honest and straight foreword person. Honesty and smart are important traits that I feel we are missing out on.

I don’t think Marco or any other politician whether long sitting or brand new in 2014-2016 had the courage to outright take in the media AND challenge the u party establishment. MAYBE one of the Paul’s (Ron/Rand), maybe.

There is no 2-party system anymore... it's always been a uniparty putting on a show for us to bitch and complain about, regardless of which news feed we follow. They are damn good and it and once you see it for what it really is - you CAN'T unsee it. They are professionals of division and they are dividing us against each other. Agree with most of your post including the uniparty...I realize the Israeli Zionists are running our country now but can't really understand how they got so powerful. I know AIPAC and the pro-Israel lobby gave 95 of our 100 US senators campaign money during the 2024 election cycle along with 94% of US representatives. Only 33 members of the entire Congress did not receive donations. Then we wonder why the so-called leaders won't listen to the ordinary people anymore! Maybe this explains why we are fighting and supporting another endless war that has no benefit to America while destroying our economy and driving up inflation to record highs!

A solution to what? The numbers have more decimal places but the lifestyles afforded by a given career haven’t really changed all that much. The will and discipline to sacrifice entertainment and doing some things yourself vs. paying for them so as to save for big purchases has certainly changed. Changing your own oil, engine/cabin air filter, rotating tires yourself, and holy crap, learn (or teach as the case applies) to swap a windshield wiper on your own. How about a hose, couple drops of dawn in a bucket, a sponge, and some towels instead of $10 for the drive-through wash that only gets about 30% of the bugs off anyway?

1992 was the 1st year I had a part time job in retail for the entire year. Working 15-20hrs/week (30+ hrs in the summer) I made the same amount that year that my dad made his 1st full year in Pharmaceutical sales in 1976.

2026, my daughter was hired in retail at an hourly rate that would’ve made the same amount I was making when hired to sell healthcare products in 2000.

Friend’s children who’ve worked hard in trades apprenticeships/school and/or college Are all on their own, making a living without help from home, saving for the things 20-something’s save for. A home, a wedding/engagement rings, paying off student loans, etc.

I’m one of the older of 31 1st cousins between mom and dad’s sides and I can only come up w/1 still @ home in their 20’s. Some life choices have somewhat put the cart before the horse which is often challenging financially.

The doom and gloom I see and hear bantered about is loudest from those who’d like to be present and accounted for in every aspect of your life that’s completed while clothed and some completed sans clothing.

You want to be of genuine value to your grandkids, sit them down and show them how to make a budget, then follow-up often to see if they’re following it. If things are truly that tight, you buy fuel @ the convenience store, and that’s IT. No $3-$7 coffee, Make coffee @ home, and I’m not talking K-Cups either. Leave everything in the cooler, in the cooler, and don’t be nabbing stuff off the warmer either. Pack a lunch, go home for supper, leftovers go in Tupperware to be eaten, not scraped out if the container into the garbage in 2wks.
