Hey guys, what kind of gloves do you use when out bow hunting late season. I know there are hand warmers and pouches and lots of different methods. Just curious what you guys use to keep hands warm I know sometimes mother nature can not be tamed. I have been using light gloves with hand warmers in my pocket but don't like having to keep buying them and the movement in and out of the pocket sometimes can be tricky. I have a normal trigger release by the way.

I hate fingered coldweather gloves.

For late season bowhunting I will wear a snug fit glove like a mechanix glove with some of those fur lined leather mittens over the top. I can quickly shed the mittens when the time comes and the frozen handle/riser of the bow isn't immediately bothersome while wearing the mechanix gloves. I remember being 16/17 years old hunting late season one time when the temps were well below zero and I shed my gloves and tried to shoot my bow with my bare hand on the riser. My hand was just slightly sweaty as I was hiking out of my stand and the moisture immediately froze my hand to my bow and created a fair bit of chilly pain.

Make sure your mittens are large enough to slide off easily and allow you to put a chemical warmer in if need be.

If you really want to get serious about late season hunting, nothing compares to fur. I made some fur mittens and have yet to have my hands get cold while wearing them, but like someone else mentioned above, a light glove under the mitten is needed so your warm clammy hands don't freeze to your bow when really cold. Also another thing that allows me to stay out longer is what i call a my "hobo" heater, a circular tin can of some kin, take a roll of cheap toilet paper, remove the center carbord thingy, shove tp in the tin can ( perferrable a tight fit so it fills up the center hole), take a bottle or two of rubing alchol and completely saturate the tp, put lid on tin can, when your colder than balls out hunting, get it out of your pack and light it up to thaw yourself out a tad. it's a smokeless, odorless, and for the most part soundless heat source.... and when all else fails, try real hard to shoot a deer in september so your done by now..lol

I use the light gloves and muff when sitting during cold days rifle hunting. Shortened a couple fingers on left hand due to power miterbox saw. Those stubbies get cold real fast.
