Are St. Croix's really that good? a guy I work with builds custom rods and he said a lot of the scheels brand rods are st. Croix blanks.

Years ago they were. 13 fishing builds them now. Atleast that's what the sales dude told me. Makes sense, pick up a ONE rod and the high end 13 rod - they are identical Cept for the grip/reel seat

My only Loomis is a jigging rod and I love it.

Seems stupid but even the low end St Croix are not that awesome. Pick up a Legend Tournament Elite, however.........UNREAL. But for $300+....ouch!!!

St. Croix are nice. I believe Scheels rods are made by 13 Fishing. If you want to save a little money, MHX is tough to beat. I build most of my rods out of those blanks.

Custom built by me. Scheels isn't bad off the rack. Older loo is and croix are better then what available now. Way to much mass production. All comes down to cost on the manufacturing side.
