I am thinking of buying one. Any advice from GoPro experts out there? Good bang/buck.... handiest accessories? For hunting, fishing, snorkeling, sports, etc.

Advice on a good computer for managing movies also appreciated.

My laptop didn't work with the software for go pro. I use it on my desktop and I use my phone with a couple different 3rd party software. It's easier and quicker to post to facebook or u tube

I bought a Hero 3 Black when they came out and use it fairly regularly...For hunting and fishing purposes get a head mount as well as a tripod that you can bend around branches or on gear, the gun mounts and chest mounts suck and video quality is garbage.

The negatives for GoPros: Audio, no display, short line of sight and battery life. I really do like mine though, mostly have used it for flyfishing for pike and bass out of the kayak, bowhunting, duck hunting and a little bit of ice fishing.

My video editing skills stink plus I don't shoot or catch anything big so I do not post any of it online just have a folder for it when I am bored at home between seasons.

The application is nice to make sure that you have it tilted in the right direction but will chew through battery a lot quicker if you leave it on.

I am sure you will enjoy it and hopefully you can get some trophies on camera

I got a GoPro Hero+ for fishing and hunting last year as well. My laptop is about 4 years old and works just fine for it. You have to download GoPro studios off line(editing program) and its pretty easy to use once you figure things out. There are a few good videos on youtube that can help with that.

Depending on what model you get, you can have a LCD screen on back or without. But if you get the one without, you can download the app which syncs your phone to camera. The only downside to app is that the wifi/Bluetooth signal is gone once under water.

I definitely recommend getting a pole extension of some sort and a floatation device for your camera.

I really like my camera and looking to upgrade in the future. Def a cool toy to play with.

Unless you're dead set on the GoPro, give the Garmin Virb a try. I got to play with one last year, and it was pretty neat. Buddy of mine is a professional photog (Windigo Images) and pretty sure the Virb is all he uses.

Then again, there are probably a thousand pro photo dudes who use the GoPro...

I got the basic model no WiFi. Didnt know how much I would use it. I don't like the fact that when in waterproof mode u can't hear much. I mainly edit with music and my phone. I like to post ASAP vs waiting to get home. I have snorkeled wit the cam. I bought a 3rd party waterproof stick. I bought third party accesserics the only piece I had issues with the base that came with it go pro brand

I've been using a hero 3+ for a little bit now. I use it for everything from bowhunting to rooster hunting to fishing. They work great with only a couple downsides, battery life is shit. If you continuously record expect about 25-30 minutes of battery life if you get a WIFI capable unit and actually use the WIFI. Also, like others have stated, Audio quality is not very good if you use the waterproof case. I'll link some of the accessories that I use regualarly.

1.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014UTMZ5O/?tag=nodakangler10-20 This is an excellent mount for gun hunting. It clamps right on to the barrel of your rifle/shotgun and does not harm the barrel. It is very secure.
2.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RMNBNRW/?tag=nodakangler10-20 I've only used this one 1 time. seems pretty neat, but i got it late in the season last year and didn't really mess around with it.
3.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MPFLWEQ/?tag=nodakangler10-20 This is the mount i use the most as it use it for bow hunting. It works awesome whether your in a tree or in a ground blind.

One thing that I would recommend if you buy a go pro is this, buy extra battteries, and a portable charging block like the one on this page. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FSA361M/?tag=nodakangler10-20. And then go buy one of those portable power packs for like $40 at best buy or walmart. Thats what i use in my blind to keep my batteries charged up. Works well and is pretty compact.

Also, another thing to do is make sure you get the gopro app on your phone and link the phone and gopro up. Even if you don't use the app to control your phone, have it linked up just in case because there's an awesome feature built into the app that if you should happen to lose your gopro while out in the field, you open up the app, turn on the "find Gopro" feature, and then your gopro will start beeping allowing you to find it. One of my buddies lost his brand new gopro last year the first time he used it while we were out chasing roosters in a bunch of cattails... Never did find his gopro because he didn't have it linked to his phone.

What kind of pictures do you get from a dash cam ? I don't want any more stuff to drag around in the boat but thought if a dash cam would produce a half assed decent video I would get one. They are dirt cheap compared to a go-pro or any other hand held units.

One of the reasons I bought the cheaper one is battery life. Over an hour. It doesn't have all the electronics running. Plus I can leave it on the boat no real investment if somebody takes
