So my wife has wanted a Great Dane for a while now. I found one for a darn reasonable price and we bought it. I did a lot of research and they seam to be great dogs. Mine is just eight weeks old. Just wondering if any of you have any experience with the breed. I know my feed bill is gonna get a lot bigger

I recommend a pay loader for fecal material removal. They're awesome dogs but I don't have any personal experience with them. I've wanted one for a while too but the wife says no. Good luck with everything! What color did you end up getting?

House down the street has a Dane and I'm jealous. I'd own one but I'm concerned about their short life span and potential health problems. I've heard stories about them being unbelievably protective of their owners.

Please post pics of the new pup in the dog thread!

We had 2 when I was a kid. Very friendly dogs, great pets, great with kids. I thought they were kinda dumb, but maybe it was just ours.

Like stated above, medical problems and short life span are the bad things about them.

We don't have a Great Dane, but we do have a giant St. Bernard. It's funny to hear people assume how much he eats. Turns out they don't eat much more than a regular sized dog. In fact, on the hot summer days when it is hot out I would say he might even eat less. He just lays around trying to keep cool. He's a super great dog. A jolly and gentle teddy bear.

He'd probably cool off much better if you shaved him to look like a lion and posted pics on NDA. I'm just thinking of the dog...

I have only been around one Dane. In my opinion can't be trusted around your Bush lights and paint stuff real purdy.

and this thread just took a hard left turn.

No doubt.

I knew a fella that spent some time in the orient way back in the early days just after the war in nam, he was a Marine. Anyhow he brought back some porn that would make larry flint blush, some of which was beast related...;:;barf
