Yeah, I've watched a number of those Youtube videos. Makes you go WTF?

On a side note, I've been there and it surely isn't like that all the time. We had no issues whatsoever getting out to fish.

I thought the 'toon was going to snap in half. Running the yellow boat from atop the poling platform didn't look like ANY fun at all either.

I admit to laughing out loud when I hear the high-pitched screechy unsolicited "advice" being uttered in the captains' direction.

Must be is perfect storm of ugly wind/tide.

A sand bar has probably drifted in from a storm blowing in from the opposite direction of the channel. The same thing happens in Santa Cruz and the waves will break as they go over the sand bar.

I've been through inlets and it's amazing at certain times when the tides coming in and the river flows out. Lots of power but never been a problem if the boat driver nows what they are doing. Sand bars are usually constantly changing due to weather and tides so reading the waves is a real benefit. Fun watching thought.

Columbia River. Probably the worst sand bar on the US coast.
