I read some articles that suggested this rod. I like st croix rods. What would you suggest?

the one you listed is fiberglass right?

The 7' might be graphite. I personally wouldn't want a moderate action rod for bouncers. Some people might but I like a fast action myself. But it's personal preference. I would buy a st. croix premier medium heavy if you run bigger bouncers between 1oz and 2oz's. which I do most the time. Model number PC70MHF. If you want a medium the PC70MF

I'd run a medium heavy fast action rod for bouncers. I have a shimano curado I like, but lews makes a decent reel for a little less money.

Wow. Them reels are a little pricey. What do I look for in these type of reels. On a budget. 250 for rod and reel.

It appears to be a composite of both. Looking at the rods you suggested would the be able to handle a 2 oz bb

Get the Eyecon Bounce & Troll if you are rigging. The trolling rod you highlighted is more of a crank rod. I like Shimano for baitcasters.

As far as reels go weight is a big factor and the way the drag is built. With a little maintenance they will last forever. If something does break on them they are worth fixing and not trashing. I've run pflueger trions, lews speed spools, shimano curado's, ardents, browning, and quantum baitcasters. I use the left hand retrieve which are hard to find and usually a few dollars more. The shimano, lews, and pfluger are what I am currently using with the shimano and lews being my favorite. Those reels just seem to fit my hand better.

As far as rods go look into the St. Croix Bass x line. MH fast or extra fast is my liking. The fast will load up better with the xf being a tad more sensitive. I run some Croixs and scheels rods for this. I definatly wouldn't go any lighter then a medium fast and then only if you don't pull a bouncer over 1.5 ounces. I like the rod in the 6'8 to 7'1 for bouncing also.

If you are using for bottom bouncing, this Quantum Accurist baitcaster reel works great. It has the "Flipping Switch" which makes one hand operation a breeze when finding the bottom. I've been using them for a number of years. I did not find it on Cabelas site though, which does not help if you have points to use.

The Bounce & Troll works good up to 2 oz. I've ran 3's, but it is loaded up pretty good with 3's.

Thought that is what I had when I looked on cabelas. Is this what your talking about?

Pair that with the reel that platinum mentioned above, very good setup for bottom bouncing. I've got a couple, seem to work great when the dog days of summer set in and I'm forced to troll around. I think I got those setups from cabelas in the past, so not sure if they stopped carrying the reel or not. If I remember right you'll be in for right around the $250 for the rod/reel.

I would love to get that accurist but cabelas does not have them.

Looking at this..
