Thinking of replacing the 20 year old Jiffy. Should I go with Strikemaster with the 4 stroke Honda, ION X or the K-Drill? Will be used both in and out of ice house. Let me know which way you would advise and why.

I'm keeping my old jiffy for thicker ice and picked up a ion fore the wheel house and early and late ice. That jiffy owes me nothing and you can't find anything better built then it. Impressed with the ion and weight.

I have an older gas jiffy for backup but haven't used it in 3 years. Ion for primary.

Kdrill for me. I'm going to use it on the clam plate with a fuel drill until we hit 3 feet of ice then I might put it on my strike master and see how it works.

After using Kickemup K drill, I really want one worse than I did last year. Still like my model 30 but my flighting on the Jiffy is heavier than the whole k drill assembly

I have no need for a new auger but am really eyeing electric. Like the idea of Kdrill (have not used one) really like the ION. Like others said the old Jiffy will always be around. My primary Auger now is a Strikemaster Chipper Lite

I thought I liked the K Drill before touching one and now using one with the clam plate then grab my model 30 a little later I am impressed with the K Drill.
I can see an argument for an Ion if you don't already have a drill setup, but if your like me and do plus want something easy for run and gun then my vote goes K Drill

Plus I do believe if you have a strikemaster or Eskimo powered there is an adapter to run the K Drill flighting on it. Have heard that is also a slick setup

Keep the jiffy for really thick ice and get the Milwaukee/k-drill for your primary. Then you also have a top of the line drill for any projects. I'm starting my 3rd year with honda, it is great but will be my last gas auger. In about five years I will probably go electric for primary and keep the Honda for backup.

Ice gators are on sale because they are out of business. Good luck when you have issues with your $900 auger. I'll pass.

I have used and been around many auger types. Currently own a old jiffy legend which I love and will never get rid of and have a ION with the reverse that is a dream in the house with no fumes and it's quite. Love the ION for in the house the reverse works good but your still going to need an ice scoop some ice will float up your other holes ( And you will have to reclean your holes again) but great product. Think I've owned it three years now love it for the house and quick fishing trips( DONT plan on it lasting if you pop lots of holes). You need to have sharp blades for your ION other wise that's when you get people pushing down on them and it can be a workout (prally got 200-300 . ONLY bad thing I've had is need to charge battery properly. Had it arc on me and had to get another charger. Been a pretty spendy unit !!!
Looked at a strikmaster electric. I got to be a little more jealouse about it. Liked how it would spin faster while drilling. Just seemed better.

Seen and used the jiffy propane augers in action and wow there amazing. Always started up quick in the cold even when left in the pack of the truck on a cold day ( have had a few trips go bad real quick cause the gas auger wouldn't start). I have been looking at the pro 4 to run around on the ice just a few more pounds heavier but than your not worried about all the electrical with water and buying batteries and charging batteries. Just a 1lb bottle of propane can last awhile. WAY longer than I would have ever thought. When it did die using that 1lb bottle I was able to just hook up the hose from the propane tank for the heater.

But this the k drill seems to be pretty neat wish I seen one in action (or just had one). I'm sure it's super light. Just would like to see a couple videos of maybe one with a 8in and a 6in and see the difference in speed and what the difference in hole numbers would be. Be nice to see another video with different drill brands like Milwaukee ,DuWalt ,

That might one one of the fastest augers but what does that setup weight.

My 42v Ice Gator with an 8 inch Nils is around 25-26 pounds. The shaft on the 8 inch power point is about 6 inches longer than a normal auger though. It avoids needing an extension most of the time.

why the 18v Milwaukee over the similar 20v Dewalt for $100 less? specs look the same. i could buy an extra 60vflex battery with 6.0 amp hours for the extra $100 to go with my Dewalt or use the two other 20v dewalt batteries i already have. thanks.
