Homing Pigeons

Anyone ever use homing pigeons to train pointing dogs? I have a buddy who has 2 GSP's and has taken on homing pigeons as new family members so he can train them without sacrificing the bird. Reuse them over and over.....any legitimacy to this? I looked on the University of Youtube and only saw them used as reward birds.

Back in the early 70's we used homing pigeons all the time to train our brittanies. My friend lived across from Tom O'leary golf course. He lived on Divide Ave. We just walked across the street and planted the pigeons. Worked out real good.
