I keep a set of clothes in the camper that get washed and put right back in, I leave the camper plugged in while parked in my driveway, so the fridge is always cold and full of whatever food we had left over, i unhook the camper, push a button to level, push a button to move the slide outs out, takes all of 10 seconds to roll the carpet mat out, set up 6 lawn chairs in 40 seconds, and crack an ice cold Busch light.

Our system takes literally less then 5 minutes and we are set up and enjoying whatever it is we want to do.

I had my spot set up, and boat backed into the water in under 20 minutes when i really was pushing it to out fish my buddy that was jacking around with his tent, stoves, air mattress, sleeping bags, etc. I remember i had to go back for more crawlers and he was just backing the boat in...haha

Ok thats BS.. cause the friends we camp with a few times a summer that have big fifth wheels they ares spenidn all night loading them up Thursday night. Getting home after work friday and then hooking them up and its more last minute loading..
Then they get to the lake at 8pm and start setting everything up.. leveling, slide outs, awnings, porch carpet/ awning lights, 14 chairs around the fire ring.. and so on..and on..
Then come Sunday they have breakfast and start packing it all up, and leave sometime after noon, Stop at the shitter, dump and go through that nightmare of handling the families feces for the weekend.
Get home sunday late afternoon, unload a pile of crap out of it. unhook it and then do it all over again next thursday. So i know first hand its not exactly slide in the slide outs and start your engines.

There's not a weekend we camp that we arent set up and torn down in half the time as our counterparts in their RV's

IMO Camping should be about getting away from all the complications and keeping things simple and it should never involve A/C, microwave popcorn, and 50" big screen. IMO that's what lake cabins are for.

if its raining and 40mph winds I'd just as soon be at home getting some other stuff done.

Just pull up open the door -grab a cold beer out of the fridge --- throw a fresh 30 pack in one of the two fridges -- take the cover off boat - back down ramp and by the time you have your tent up my back trailer wheels are hitting water.

when i had scooters i camped hard - like 2 soft bags on the springer, then later, 3 hard bags on the electraglide, tent, sleeping bag, and a soft sided cooler strapped on wherever it would hang on at 90 mph... would pack enough cloths for 2-3 days, then buy more and stuff the dirty laundry in a priority box at the local post office and mail home... hit the grocery and beer stores every night to get fluids and some flesh to char on an open fire... did that for almost 20 years hitting rallys all over the western us with buddies... it was awesome... then old happened...

fell off a roof a few years ago and broke or cracked 8 ribs and buggered up a couple discs in my back... party over...

now we have a nice bumper pull camper with all the comfys we leave on relatives land west of devils and camp and fish there as much as we can all summer...

i went from all out crazy, hair to my ass, f it lets go bikin bad ass to - sleeping in a cozy camper, fishing on a pontoon, sleeping in a recliner, sweating with a crew cut, 5 minutes to pee, old broken down bastard...

i think it's all relative... if it works for you... enjoy...

We have extra cloths, food, hard liquor, and after 15 years in a fifth wheel, all the camping essentials, one needs camping already in the camper. As far as space, out of the 31 nights we are there, all but 3 are in the north loop with full hookups= more space, and its not as noisy there . When we get to the camp ground its usually 30 to 45 minuets to get set up. When we get home its, back it into the driveway, take out the dirty laundry, and plug it in. As far as why we mostly camp at Stevenson its because. 1. Its close to home, if we want, or need to come home its a 35 to 40 minuet drive. 2. I have fished the east end for 45 years, and the park has 2 ramps, that depending on wind direction I can usually get the boat it when I decide to go. Fish anywhere from Douglas bay to the 83 embankment. I can also trailer over to Audubon, or the tailrace if I want. 3. If we decide to go out and eat somewhere we have Garrison, Totten trail, Coleharbor, Underwood, or Riverdale.

You said earlier you have your RV parked at a lot at the lake. Sorry that's a cabin, its not camping.

I'm fine with people who "RV" with all the comforts. If it works for you cool.

I just don't think it can becalled "camping" when you are surrounded by 50 other people with every comfort of your house within arms reach.
I do get a kick out of how the rv crowd comes out on memorial day and goes into storage labor day, meanwhile we are camping from early April til Halloween. You'd think with all those comforts you could extend your season a bit. But i'm sure glad it give us more room out there without having to hear a generator. :D
