Simple changed for me this year. Making a box mounted in my otter for my heater with padding to keep it tight and protected for the long haul on LOW and Winnipeg.

New FLX 28 joining my family next week as well.

One question for otter owners:

The connection point between all the support poles is a joke. I was going to drill them out with a small bit and put bolts and locking nuts. Anyone else done that or have a better option?

Yes, I drilled mine out and bolted them. I ground down the bolts and wrapped them in gorilla tape so they would not cut the material.

Glad to hear you're staying out of trouble so to speak. I'll ship'em a soon as I get'em, but no hurry. I have others the gators can beat on until you get to'em. Brightest red you can come up with. Might hang one up and fish with the other. Makes me giddy with anticipation. Thanks DM!!!!

I have a real hankering to either build or buy a tip-down flag. At first I really wanted an iFish Pro, but after seeing it and holding it, just doesn't seem all that robust. Too much thin plastic and little pieces that could break or get misplaced. On the other hand, something as simple as a Rod Rocker attached to a 2x4 on a simple stand, and a marking flag attached on the back, would make for a pretty slick tip down.

Not a problem. If you have any pictures of what you're thinking, send me some of those too. We can always frankenstein the ideas.

So now you want to be responsible for little bolts to set up your house? Cold fingers and ice holes to make setup and takedown interesting? The first ice house I bought (used) the guy had done this and it was awful

Downrigger, I recommend attaching everything you can to your tow vehicle. That house does a bunch of bouncing. My buddy heater took a beating our first year up on Winnipeg.

I have everything except my heater on my ATV. We've found that by securing the buddy heater in a confined space helps them hold together pretty well. Everything else is on the wheeler or attached to the tow hitch.

I had time to complete a couple projects this summer. Put some "Black Ice" ski guides on my trailer and ramps for the Aluma skid house, slides pretty nice even with no snow/ice. Bought a queen size memory foam mattress on amazon for 100$, cut it in half and now have 2 mattresses for the bunk in the skid house, my wife sewed up the mattress covers for them. Got the solar panel and charging system in. Put rattle reels in and XM radio hook ups. Just have to put the tracks back on the ATV.

Currently working on fiberglass patches and painting the new spearhouse project. Its a 1" insulated fiberglass shell with a nice door. I put it on a treated floor. Its really light weight and it seems like I could heat it with a candle. With the 2nd kid on the way any day now, I might put this thing up for sale.

There is a page on Facebook called Trick Your Trap. Lots of cool mods people have done to all brands of flip overs. It rabbit holed me for a few hours the first day I found it.

Built a carrier for my portable yesterday so I can haul it on the back of the permanent and then haul the 4wheeler in the back of the pickup. I should have the best of both worlds, if I so choose, when out on the ice. Also ordered new longer ATV ramps too so I should be able to load the wheeler without feeling like I'm going over backwards.
