I picked up 4 more 5 gallon pails to stuff my stuff into the back of the Ranger, they were free, and even have lids on them. Pretty jacked to replace one of my crusty old green ones

Did you find that ice package that fits an elite 7? When i was looking last year I thought I could only find one to fit an elite 5? I didn't look very hard though.

I think this one only squeezes in an elite 5. But Im thinking the 7 might still fit. If not ill buy a new bag for the setup. I'll report back once I get it in the mail.

I just rock the ice with a bucket, some jigs in my pocket, and some old rods grandpa gave me. Nothing fancy for this guy.

I use one for my Elite 5 and it BARELY fits in there. No way my 7 would fit. They work really good as long as you aren't 30ft plus or 6 ft or less in depth.

Contact Vollmer for more information.

Haha nope. Tech junkie. Looking forward to figuring it out. Plus its just a spare. Plus 6-30 fow is in my depth range 95% of the time.

Biggest want for it is the gps on sled dash.

Have ran a shappell fx200 for about 3-4 years now and cant complain for what I needed and paid. Have burnt a couple holes with a sunflower heater (got a big buddy now) and the skirt is a little banged up from freezing down but for what I paid fixing is cheap. I do need to look at adding some lights for the inside and I'm sure I'm going to by more jigs that I don't really need but must have.
Right now my idea of gearing up is getting a list of new water to try this year, get my auger tuned up.

I will modify my statement a bit. Deep water never used to be a problem, or so I thought. I also had never fished deeper than 30 ft. Tried deep water on stump last year and I couldn't pick up a big jig after about 30 feet. The unit has never really been good under 5 or 6 feet. Maybe my settings are screwed up. I don't know.

Auger blades sharpened...ordered a Clam insulated flip over. Before we close the door on this year's open water season...anyone know what docks are still in the water on Sak and Audubon? Weather gonna be nice this weekend...want to take the boat out one last time!

I haven't used it a whole lot, prefer my marcum, but never noticed any troubles with depth, I know guys say you need to play around with the settings to dial it in. I know I looked at the aforementioned elite 5 ice packs Vollmer bought and I didn't think a 7 would fit. I thought maybe he found a different setup. Thats why I just ended up with a blue genz box for it.

There is no ice yet here in central nd.

I need lots of bungee webbing but not for secure storage and transportation. I am going to net sconis with the bungee webbing and drag them to the road. I wonder if a potato gun stuffed with bungee webbing would work. #ilovetosaybungee

Thanks ny...2 weeks ago the dock at Stevenson was still in as well. Can always launch at Camp of the Cross without a dock...just easier for us old timers to launch boats at docks! Actually the launching part is easy...it's the jumping off the bow part coming back to shore that can be tricky!

Hopefully way too much open water yet to worry about ice. But I will take the few weeks between open and safe to get everything ready. I will say that this is the first time that I have ever been semi excited about ice fishing.

I have this same set up that Vollmer just picked up meant for a 5. But I put my HDS 7 Touch Gen 2 in there... she fits extremely tight! But she zips. Works great! Have to play with the sensitivity a little depending on the water.
