The ice is officially off Lake Sakakawea and this winter will go down as one of the shortest for the number of days with ice on the big lake.
The lake was considered iced over as of January 15th - and ice-free on April First.
That 77-day span is the fourth-shortest length of time Sakakawea has had ice since it became a lake back in the mid-1950s.
The shortest-ever ice duration on the lake was 69 days in 2012

Early for sure. If it ever warms up again we should have good early fishing this year
Was out on the boat last Sunday and took a pretty good cruise. Felt good to be on the big bad lake again. Could have done without the big wind but Fished a bit and lost a nice sauger at the boat.

I was in Pick City today for work purposes, the white caps could be seen from miles away, space likely.

just wait until we get our typical April winds moving in, we haven't even had our hard winds yet...;:;banghead
