I have a soft case from cabela's that i bought off bisman for $20. Have to use the sleeves with it. I found it not to be too terrible a pain in the arse with spoons and jigs, but any kind of chubby darter is a nightmare. All in all a huge improvement from putting them in my trusty 5 gallon bucket and easier to find room for it in the sled than a hard case.

I got the clam semi-hard (that sounds dirty) rod case a couple years ago and really like it. Has tons of storage for small tackle boxes, gloves, tools, flask, etc. and I have yet to break a rod in it. It gets thrown in the sled behind the snowmobile with all the other gear and has seen many miles. Cabelas makes the same thing now only black and alot cheaper. I would go that route if you can find one.

I probably bought the same Scheels case most of you guys did on sale last year. Works well, I don't break the handles down, but it is tight and will probably cost me a reel at some point. I will probably take a look at it sometime before the ice season and see if I can cut the foam a bit to make the reels fit better. Pretty good deal for a hard case though.

I bought the eagle claw case last year and for the most part like it. The plastic isn't very tough feeling so I am not sure it would stand up to extreme cold and abuse of say Lake Winnipeg but it works well for my fishing. If I turn my handles down I can fit 6-7 rods and if I don't its around 4-5 as well as room for extra pliers a couple little tackle boxes and other odds and ends.
I keep meaning to make up a little report with pictures from last year but keep forgetting.

I have a Frabil heavy duty ice rod locker and use it pretty regularly, no broken tips and lines don't tangle blowing around in the bucket. but I do break down the handles also when using, if I took out a layer of foam I probably wouldn't have to but they don't move now as is. I may have to consider trying this and can probably get away with not breaking down the handles. image.jpg
I have the Frabill as well in the 42". Works like a champ!
