Jacket recommendations

Love my heated gerbing 7v clothing, sock liners, gloves, and jacket
With some base layers and insulated boots all set on low and be warm.

When I started hunting for the first time, a broke kid, I purchased some long sleeve shirts, fairly heavy cotton ones. I couple of flannel long sleeve shirts with the pockets for my smokes. Now 37 years latter they still oddly fit, and have never upgraded any of it. Never been cold, I have been too hot, but I just peal a layer off and I am good to go.

I hunt with several different groups, and when I get to the season ending pheasant blast down in the Regent area, the fellas that attend this excellent hunt are all showing off their nifty fancy outfits, and parading around like they are on a runway. Always makes me laugh, as I stand there in almost 40 year old hunting clothing, having spent nothing in decades. I feel as though they are buying some of this stuff just to be in the fancy pants club... It almost has a gay feeling to it all.

To be clear, I am not saying there is anything wrong with spending a months wages to get a new outfit. It just isn't important to me, and I also don't go on extravagant hunts requiring long hours and potential over night stays.

You must be the guy that volunteers to "post" every time.
If you work up any sort of sweat in cold weather, anything cotton is the most miserable thing you can have on.

No I walk plenty as I always have the best dog, however I am like a furnace. I get hot very easy. Rarely wear a jacket in the winter, unless outside for extended periods. When I get the sweat going, I peal down to the minimum and it seems to cool me off rapidly, and whatever sweat I had rolling dissipates.

I again am not stating my method is the correct one, I am old, cheap, and very opinionated on all issues, especially dudes in fancy little outfits...haha. Also being uncomfortable is how I roll.

No I walk plenty as I always have the best dog, however I am like a furnace. I get hot very easy. Rarely wear a jacket in the winter, unless outside for extended periods. Perhaps you are one of those people who have more body hair then the avg guy, body hair helps trap heat. Just an edumacated guess,.does your wife call you her big teddy bear that's a dead give away.
