speaking of "taping ballistics to your stock"... does someone not make a handy ballistics chart holder thingy

like the quarterbacks play book wrap on their wrist?

I get tired of tape going all gunky and letting go, etc.

I just use a quality brand clear packing tape. One chart on the stock, and one on the inside of the objective scope cap cover. I’ve never had a residue issue. Start with a clean surface and an air bubble free covering, and I’m good to go. I’ve never had a problem with extreme temperature changes compromising the hold on a chart.

The QB wrist playbook idea complicates things…..the rifle is worthless in the absence of the play book. Add multiple rifles into the mix and you have a mess on your hands.

That’s why I believe in keeping the dope chart on the gun.

Wow guys thx so much. I don't think I need a new scope now. Turn back the clock to the 60's hold over poke and hope. 😉

Got a cheap Savage Axis 6.5 manbun with a cheap Bushnell 3x9 with BDC. Few weeks ago decided to shoot it with some Hornady 140gr ELD-M box ammo and walked it out to 350yds and was hitting consistently with decent groups off of a Bog Pod tripod. Basically I roughly zeroed it on a 8in plate at 200yds then started going back in 50yd increments. I was doing some load development on my 7mm and wanted something to do in between shot groups letting my barrel cool.
Dumb thing is I was going through all this extra work and had revamped my 7mm with new Boyds Agility Stock, Timney Trigger, and new Vortex Viper LHT and an el cheapo rifle combo that I won on a gun board with half ways affordable ammo was basically shooting lights out. Which in the end isn't that bad of a deal I guess, might have to upgrade the stock and a little better scope then load up some 100gr ELD-VT for a target and coyote gun. As it sits now it is nice and light for a coyote rig

Can/will you confirm/destroy my analysis of the group?

From left/right; bottom to top:

1 and 2 are sxs caused by a slight slide on the rest at the trigger break

3 shot a bit high/right through a "warmish" bbl

4 passed the "warmish" bbl making it hot

5 went through a hot bbl

I've annoyed a few folks into their best group ever with insisting upon waiting for a cold bbl: All things considered; it produces a true POI: ^^^^This produced the aforementioned "nickel group" with PowerPoint/CoreLokt/Cheapest Federal shell during the Ammunition Shortage.

That is all.
