I thought this was going to be a magnum/Booner snapping turtle.

I"ve only been laker fishing 2x. Once through the ice and once very early when they were still shallow. They're a lot of fun to catch.

The head on that fish is gigantic. You virtually couldn't throw too big of a bait to that fish. If they took a notion to top-feed shallow, there wouldn't be a safe duck on the water.

This just came to mind: WV used to have a trout season. On opening day it was often "elbow to elbow". Through years of experience; Granddad found a non-descript rock for "his" spot away from the crowd. The limit was 6 and he could usually eek out a full creel over the day.

This one time he got lucky. He got his limit in a couple hours then noticed he had pre-covid type company. As he waded away from "his" rock; one of the "neighbors" asked "Whatya usin' for bait?

Granddad's reply was "toenails". It's an oft told story since the late '60's.

Sorry I had a fight in your lake trout party.

That is all.

I gave your post a like for a good reason, I like some of your posts. Others not so much. Are you willing to shake hands and try to get along ? I,d like that if you quit trying to use me for your puppet.

Y'all be careful. Your loved ones won't accept wanting to be "Hemmingway" or "Ishmael".

On another note; I'd have NOTHING except "muskie size shit" on that offshore venture. An old History Channel show called "Monster Quest" dedicated an episode about an hours long battle with a "14ft" aberration and reputation fucker. The rod was destroyed "at the boat". The fish got away.

If true (CNN/MSNBC:p): The fish broke all his shit, sank and died IMO. You guys are catching fish approximating your age: That's cool.

That is all.

Just your pics alone paint a good story. We'll done.

Never fished for them. Can you detail how you caught them?

We try various things such as big cranks and also a variety of artificial stuff on big jigs pretty shallow.
