Myself, Cy Munos, and Aaron Thompson have been busy scouting, hanging tree stands, and checking cameras for about a month now. I filled my tag last Sunday, and after the harvest we checked the camera. It showed a couple other nice bucks, including this guy. So tonight, Conner (Aaron's 13 year old son), sat out there in hopes of getting a poke at him. Huge kudos to dad for putting the kid in the stand over himself.
Conner said that he did not see a deer until 8:30, and none he was ready to take this early in the season. Then, in the final few minutes, this guy strolled in. He had to be patient, as the buck ended up staying straight behind a big drop down branch that was still full of leaves. After a couple of minutes the deer strolled out to where he could get a shot on him. A 20 yard broadside shot, and the kid put the arrow right on the money. The big guy ran about 80 yards, and laid down.
Congratulations Conner! Great deer. Us group of dads could not have been happier!
