Was there this weekend. We got on at Warner Rd and fished north of the mouth of the Red River. It sounds like Prudens was cleared out as well. We hammered big fish, no giants though. Biggest was 29" and around 8 1/2 pounds. We got around on rangers with tires, but they were supposed to get pounded with a foot of snow and 50 mph winds on Sunday. Ice was roughly 30"-36" so we didn't need extensions, but just barely made it through.

Take that for what it's worth because I feel like it will be completely different after this last storm. They were going to get snow for the next couple days and wind. Access is likely to change and the amount of snow on the lake will be drastically different I think. Track machines is probably the preferred method now. Lots of pickups and sxs with tires this last weekend though.

Will be tough. Getting more snow here today. Bring tracks to make your life easy.
I forgot to post a report from the Feb trip. Fishing was better than our Jan trip, mostly because we could move around (it was much warmer). I iced my personal best Greenback that was 29 inches and 12 pounds. My Buddy got one right away that went 30 inches. I must have caught over 100 walleyes in 3 days, average size was 22 inches. Just a great year for this first timer. I'll be back again next year.

Where do most people get on the lake at? And where do you start going about finding fish on that big lake? I mean is there certain things to look for as far as structure? Just curious as I've never been up there but would like to someday.

There are different access points on both east and west sides. Generally speaking most people will start towards the mouth and work out from there. I think east side had bigger fish and the west has more numbers. 7-10 feet is a general depth to start but early mornings in 3 feet can produce some big fish. There is not much for structure, it is more depth range and baitfish. I would hire a guide for a couple days for your first time if nobody has experience, it is well worth the money. From my trip up there this year the future looks bright in my opinion. There is also good info on facebook if you are on that. And take a livescope, you can learn alot very quickly.

East side, balsam harbour at road 100, sunset beach at 103, Patrica park, prudens creek. West side Warner road, Winnipeg beach, gimli, riverton. Riverton is producing 100 fish days, nothing big, 25” and under mostly.
