Went fishing to a new lake today, it is listed in the game and fish and shows lake access on one end of the lake, I drove sled down a fence line to the lake. While I was fishing landowner posted the land and said if I don't leave in 10 minutes he is going to call the cops on me for trespassing. If it is listed on the g and f and we have no access whats the point of listing it. Any Thoughts?

If these lakes are not accessible the G & F shouldn't be stocking them IMO.

Also if he posted it WHILE you are fishing I would have said go ahead and call them and then proceeded to stick a perch up his hinder parts head first.

There is a road section line that leads to a dead end that was accessible for years and somehow the land owner got the access closed because of some bullshit claim that the township would be liable if anyone was to get in a accident. I told him that unless you have a written notification of a closed section line that his yellow gate was illegal and that all section lines are open to public access. So he tells me that I have any question to contact steve nelson ramsey county sheriff that he and the township have the authority to close a section line if it is deemed unsafe for public travel and then I said well then how can you access it if it is unsafe for lake access. He just said call steve nelson he will explain it better. He has his own private boat dock that no one else can use but mike ziegler had to get a special permit to get his section line close to access dry lake. The thing is that if you look at the past pictures of this section line you can clearly see that it was actually an established trail and others you can see that he has made it his own personal boat launch.

Best thing you can do is give the location so lots of people go there if you have to just put it on a sconi website he won't know what happened

So, this is the road/section line that goes right by his house? If so. Yes. Its closed. You can access dry lake a few other ways though. Or are you talking about Cavanaugh lake? If Cavanaugh, that aint mikes dock and it isnt a section line.

Post a recent google earth picture and zoom out a bit. Cause that doesnt look like his place. It looks like it may be the neighbor to the north or south.

No mike ziegler dry lake even though at onetime it was an open section line for years but this other section line has been accessible for years and he was able to close it for personal use even though this access is no different then others roads that are closed

Also Mike's section line was an example that a special permit was needed this other one was closed by the township without public input I know I looked for township meetings minutes. The section line is in the Odessa township ramsey county

Unless I am mistaken lunker is expressing an issue he has and isn't related to articcatfishes situation.

Articatfisher, check out the section line rules and established path. The guy would have a hard case if NDGF post a spot indicating access of a certain spot. They can be wrong of course but established trail or section line or other easement would allow travel

sorry for the derailment... but if game and fish is stocking a lake, there has to be access from what I have read/seen... it would help if you would give us the lake / map etc so we could help you out... map apps like "OnXmaps" help tremendously in situations like this... another option is to call the game and fish directly and ask, hey how do I access this lake, it is on your stocking report... ALL wild animals in america are considered publicly owned, from a minnow to a buffalo you and I have as much right to it as the next guy, where that gets tricky is when you have to cross someone's land to access it, directly from the game and fish this year I asked, if i can get onto a lake directly from the road is it legal and I was told NO, because technically the land owner owns 1/2 of the road even though its a public right of way so at some point my feet are on that person's land

Rusty, that is completely incorrect. If you can walk off a road or section line right onto the lake without leaving the designated right of way, then you are legal.

Also, lunker... please clarify where you are talking as bout. The only place he has a dock is practically right in his yard. And that picture you posted doesnt look like his place.

Most counties have GIS maps where you can click on property and see ownership and tax information.

K. Now i get it. You didn't have a conversation or confrontation with mike then. You were speaking of him while also describing your recent confrontation with a now unnamed fella. That wasn't exactly clear to me and others.
