I know very little about this and am on a pretty tight budget. I have a HB 859ci HD at the helm that does what I need it to. I want to put another similar unit in the bow and link the two so I can share the same lake chip. What would be a good model and what cables would I need? I am very open to something used as long as it works as it should and I can save some money. Also, would they share the same transducer? I have terrova up front but am not all that interested in linking it to the HB. Anybody have an HB they want to sell?

Great info chart, I am also looking to link some electronics. I cant find the cable that goes from the trolling motor to the graph. Any help here would be good too.

sort of both on the transducer... my boat has information overload, front graph is hooked to the transducer on the trolling motor for 2d imaging but shares, si, di and 2d from the console which also has a through hull 2d transducer... I am also hooking up a garmin 93sv with a si transducer and livescope... if you are going to have both transducers on the back of the boat I would just share them, for me I get interference from my motor on my SI and I have an extra SI ducer that came with my garmin so I am going to run it on the other side of the boat, the garmin will probably run livescope 99% of the time... I guess if i was in your position i would probably just pick up a g2 helix with si and run 1 ducer... as far as sharing the map chip i think you have to move to the onix or solix series and they only share with onix/solix your waypoints share across the network but the mapping does not... not going to lie, i am very impressed with the garmin the mapping is nearly as good as the hb and the image quality is better than a helix so far and livescope will make your baby maker tingle so if you are just looking to add a graph i would look into a 93sv if you can find one for 600ish still (got mine on black friday sale)

The 859 can network to other units, but it cannot share the map chip. In that series of Humminbird, you need a card in each unit. I believe the Onix, and Helix G2s were the first able to share the card.

what graphs and trolling motor? the motor usually just uses a network cable that goes to a network hub. does the trolling motor have +link? if it's lowrance/motorguide i don't have a clue

If you follow The Technological Angler at all, he knows more about Humminbird than their own people I think. He runs a ducer on both sides of the boat to two screens and runs one half of the side imaging on each of them for maximum clarity and and minimal interference. I’d be all about that, but then if have to have a third graph on the dash for chirp. That’s a bit much.

that's where I saw it i believe, I wasn't going to get a 2nd si solix graph to do it but the garmin can do it and I like to play with new toys

I have a Terrova, and two helix 7's one with si and di, and the other is just sonar and gps. Its an older Terrova but does have the remote control. It was on the boat when I bought it, would like to have it fallow the contour of the graph.

Only solix or onix models will share map data from 1 chip. Older core units will share sonar and waypoint data, but they will not share sonar date if one is just a 2d unit and the other is a si unit, can’t get side image on the other unit. It’s not that bad to network them. If your looking for a whole complet networked setup send me a pm. I’ll let my whole onix setup go, 1-10” and 2-8s all the cords, box, and if you want a 80lb terrova with link.

You would need 3 network cables, a hub and the +link head for the trolling motor and i think 2 of the adapters for the helix to network cable
