yikes! Hope owner finds him soon. We really do need an Amber type alert for these kinds of things. I have a year and half old dog as well and would be frantic if she went missing so hope owner finds his dog soon.

He's on the longest point of his life, thinking where the eff is my owner! Hopefully he finds him.

I lost my Springer in a giant thick CRP field on his first year hunting. He got exhausted and scared and just laid down. Later in the day we walked back through calling his name and up popped his head. He was hunkered down, if we wouldn't have found him then he would have been a goner. Looking back it was stupid to take him into that as a pup.

been there done that with my now 11 yr old springer( retired him from hunting last year when he went blind). It was about a half dozen years ago. Walking a cattail slough with my dog Luke and another guy..It was a very windy and warm day..about 65 degrees.. I would blow my whistle if he ventured too far or I couldn't see him or whatever. He didn't return when I whistled as we were about half way thru the walk and figured the wind had something to do with that.my buddy didn't see him either...we both surmised he must have got on a runner and we would find him on the other end of the slough chasing up roosters. Well he wasn't at the end of the slough so I started worrying, blowing my whistle. We headed back from whence we came thinking he was behind us and couldn't hear us. We got all the way back to where we started and there he was laying, panting. His body was warm so started cooling him off with water and rested him the rest of the afternoon. Thankfully he was ok..scared the bejesus out of me thinking I lost him. We aptly named that particular hunting location, LOST LUCAS SLOUGH. Kinda chuckle every time I drive by LOST LUCAS SLOUGH now but he sure had me worried at the time. The end.

Scarey deal losing a dog in a corn field. Most fields are at least 160 acres nowadays too. Poor guy is probably scared shitless out there by himself and only 1 1/2 years old.
Makes me sick just thinking about it. At least it isn't cold but still have to worry about coyotes or getting hit by a car.

When a guy thinks about all the time and energy and money you spend on these dogs, not to mention they become part of the family, it makes a $750 GPS collar seem pretty cheap. My next dog will have one for sure.

Totally. I have two wirehairs, which is twice the amount of anxiety when hunting cattails.

GPS collars are expensive if you compare them to standard e-collars. But when compared to all the other expenses, they're a freaking bargain. And you can't really put a price tag on the peace of mind knowing exactly where your dogs are at all times when hunting.
