I recently found a good deal on a 2016 lund rebel 1650 ss. Wandering if this boat will be a good fit for most of the lakes i want to fish? Any advice or pros and cons of this set up? Thanks in advance

I have the 1650 tiller. She gets a little squirrelly in high winds, even on smaller lakes.

I've only been in the 17 ft model it wasn't very stable and leaned quite a bit on plane to the heavy side. Ride wasn't great. I was disappointed in it and before that I was thinking real hard about buying one. I would personally would look for a Lund explorer first

This buying a boat thing is a pain in the ass. Dealers in minot suck so far for new. One dealer has some nice boats but they sure want alot for one. I started looking east and have found some decent prices. I just cant pay 18k for a 16 year old boat. Ill take a look at the explorer. I just want to fish and would be happy with another tiller but can not seem to find a deal anywhere and ive been looking all winter

You can get get the 16 foot explorers for around 8-10k depending on the set up. The 1675 is the one to get I think. It has a 90" beam where the 1650 has a 81 1/2

Also remember to that there is no sales tax in nd if you buy from a private seller so keep that in mind when you are looking at prices

Where do you want to fish?

Coordinates are fine. Names of honeyholes are irrelevant if you give us a Lat/Long.

Oh yeah...and I fished out of a 1975 era, 16 ft beer can of an Alumacrap with a 25 hp Johnson POS back in the late 90s.

Have a little sense of humor mixed with an equal dose of sense of adventure and you will fish in all but the worst of days. DL and Sak both have lots of fishable shoreline in even the 30 mph gusty days. Those smaller lakes do as well although boat ramp selection is poorer. Choose wisely and you will be fine.

I spent a few afternoons on DL fixing a broken starter (starting rope) on that ol' Johnson. Damn if I don't miss that boat some days!

My advice- spend the extra money to get into the 17'+ category for an Aluminum boat. You wont regret the wider beam.

It's only going to get windier out with this climate change ya know...

How come through the late 70's 80's and most of the 90's people fished Oahe, Sak and DL in narrow 16'-17' foot boats all day long. A 21' Lund baron was looked at like an aircraft carrier. Now a 16' is considered small even for the small lakes. Effin glitter boats have pussified fishermen

Have a 16-5 Alumacraft. Works well on all lakes just have to watch the wind and us common sence.

This times 100!
Buy what you can afford, get out on the lake(s) when you are able...enjoy it..and don't worry about keeping up with the Jones' as there will always be a bigger, faster, better boat out there.
