Finally. Somehow they got past the Taxi 9000 stranglehold. I'm pumped since Taxi 9000 blacklisted me for being a "no show" when they'd take 1.5 to 2 hours to show up after bar close in February and I'd just end up walking home

That's one thing that I've always found ridiculous....being kicked out of a bar at 2am for example in -30 degree weather. Then your cab either gets stolen or doesn't show up. One time I almost called the police saying you better give me a damn ride home! LOL But Lyft and Uber are now destroying the cab industry, and I'm glad because you're right, it's brutal using them especially when it's busy. Luckily my days of 2am closings are about over Thumbs Up

I hate taking taxi's. I used uber while in denver one weekend. Inexpensive and I didn't have to ride on top of thousands of farts pushed into the cloth seats.

Keep in mind DM that when the taxi was new it only had ONE color cloth in the back seat instead of the delicate mosaic of earth tones now decorating that plush interior covering.

yea, uber and lyft with no back ground checks on drivers. I would trust my daughter driving with them (not) o and the price hikes double and triple rates when busy nothing like a ride costing 3 times what it should be. been there done that. I'll pay the local companys instead of corporates. Funny I never have a problem when i call them, they call me when they get there. I was sitting next to a guy in a bar a month ago he calls taxi company for a ride after a bit phone rings 3 different times never answers phone. calls back is bitching to company wondering why didn't get picked up. my inter-self was laughing.

Driving record check and background check

Every potential driver is required to undergo both a driving record check and a criminal background check. Lyft reviews the results of the checks and disqualifies individuals who fail to meet the standards set by both Lyft and local regulations.
DMV check

Lyft uses a third party to check every potential driver’s driving record. You are ineligible to drive on the Lyft platform if any of the below are found on your driving record:

  • More than three moving violations in the past three years (e.g. accidents, traffic light violations)
  • A major moving violation in the past three years (e.g., driving on a suspended license, reckless driving)
  • A DUI or other drug-related driving violation in the last seven years
  • Any driving-related convictions in the last seven years (e.g. hit-and-run, felonies involving a vehicle)
Background check

Every driver is screened for criminal offenses and driving incidents. Lyft’s criminal background check is provided by a third party and includes national and county-level databases, and when necessary, local courthouse record checks stretching back a minimum of 7 years for review of convictions in California, and longer in some other jurisdictions. You will be ineligible to drive on the Lyft platform if, among other things, the background check results reveal:

  • A violent crime
  • A felony
  • A drug-related offense
  • A sexual offense
  • Certain theft or property damage offenses

Oh, and they give you the guaranteed cost up front before your ride. And the driver is a local guy that gets paid. And you get to rate your driver, and driver gets to rate the passenger. I think this is a win/win/win. Taxi 9000 sucks dink

I used to have adult daughters in the area, they would come get me if driving myself was off the table. Now I use a cab, or mrs johnr if she is handy.
This all happens about once a year, and $5 will get you anywhere in our little Podunk town.
