I guess my kids don't hold my real fishing skills in high regard so they bought me a magnet fishing kit for Father's Day. They watch too many YouTube videos of people finding treasure I think, but it should be a fun way to spend some hours with them!

Anyone else have experience doing this? I figure we'll find some interesting stuff around landings, beaches, etc.

A buddy was bridge fishing with a magnet and got a pistol in pretty good shape. Somebody must have had a guilty conscience.

Don't start watching all the videos on YouTube or "adventures with purpose" digging up old cars with sonar, then magnets, scuba gear with gopro and missing people inside, you won't be able to stop watching. Don't ask me how I know.
Also, the odd fella from amagansette press and his son on YouTube are quite entertaining to say the least..the gals from hankinson sure showed "nd nice" in its best form. Holy agitators batman..

So first thing I did was go look at "Adventures With Purpose". Thanks a lot - I had stuff to do today.

You really have to search "amagansett press" on youtube to see all their controversial encounters before you can appreciate the way these two handled it I must say.. They also made stops in Dickinson, Bismarck and fargo on their way to 32 states within the last year and a half. It's quite comical no matter what..
Angie from hankinson went out of her way to show them around the town and is quite impressive after watching so many different encounters across the country, hats off hankinson community and I never knew how nice of a town you folks truly do have. That community center is something else..

God bless those women. Not a fan of those tools. No idea why someone wouldn't want to be featured on the internet...

Your intuition and imagination have failed you. I suggest starting over with Tarot cards.

I'm glad that we (born and raised North Dakotans) didn't come off like idiots. Sure could have gone either way.

I assume that these two guys asked these nice women, if it would be okay to put them on public display, before they uploaded this video.

I'm not 100% sure (in this day and age) how I would have reacted had some strangers come into my place of business, and started poking around. I realize that they're public employees, and it's likely that these guys have done mega-research (I have never heard of them before) regarding filming in public places.

It sure seems though, like they were poised to kick up a ruckus if things didn't go their way. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems unlikely that people tune into their videos, to see how nice people are. It seems more likely that people watch their videos to watch dumpster fires.

I could be wrong. It's happened before.

Lost a anchor on the river this spring in about 8 foot of water, the anchor is about $160 to replace. So went and bought a $23 250 lb pull magnet and went after the anchor about 5 days after I lost it. Took about 15 minutes to locate it and about another 15 minutes and about 15-18 times contacting it until got a good enough bite to it but did get it back. It was a box anchor and couldn't get a good enough bite to bring the weight up. Finally got it back. Perseverance paid off.

After you found it and the magnet wasn't getting a good enough bite, did you consider diving down in only 8 ft of water?

the thought crossed my mind more than once but the outside temp was only 55 deg that day and water temp was still pretty cold also. Just kept working at it and finally succeeded. A few time I had it about 1/2 way up so figured just a matter of time and LUCK. Considered if needed might get a long shepherd hook and trying to hook it and lift before diving in.

I lost a set of pickup keys in Cabo, they fell at the docks, water clear as can be, but about 18 ft. deep. I knew I wasn't going after them. Little Mexican fell walking by stripped down to his tighty whities and went down, second time down he came up with them gasping as he broke the surface. Seemed like he barely made it back up in time, but he was paid a handsome $500 pesos, so I think he came out ahead.

I had a handy dandy pair of plug wire pliers , grabbed a plug wire on my mercury when it was running and holy crap those electronic ignitions throw you a jolt when your all hot and sweaty. The pliers ended up about 6 feet in the air and then kerplunk , I used a welders magnet and latched on it after a few throws. I slid some hose over the handles after that jolt.

Reminds me of when we pulled the boat on the lift in a marina and I dropped a whole set of drill heads that we needed and were working on the back of the boat motor for some reason which I can't recall why. I dove in, got 5-7 feet down in that murky shit (couldn't see shit) and said screw it, I'm not popping up to hit my head on a prop or bottom/edge of a dock, etc..

When you talk "jolt" we had an A John Deere that you had to short out the magneto to get her to shut down. If you did it wrong your nuts switched side in the sack and I shit you not.LB

Remember back in the day when electronic ignition just came out. Guys car wouldn't run, so started checking wires why he was turning it over and had my nuts leaning against the fender and just then it fired and I got the shock of my life and that sumbitch laid me flat on the ground and it felt like a lightning bolt hit my nuts and man they were sore for a few days after that. Forgot all about it, tell you mentioned the above. Never tried that again with electronic ignition.

I was working on a snowmobile a few years back in the driveway trying to figure out which cylinder was dead by pulling the plug wires. It barely idled so I had one hand on the throttle and the other pulling the wire. When I took the wire off I suppose I turned into a spark plug. I couldn't let go of anything for what felt like an hour. I don't remember how but I hit the kill switch and was able to let go. I went inside and contemplated my life for a while after that.
