I don't get it live but I watch every one I can. There is also a collector tractor auction . I keep thinking one or two a year would be a decent sideline hobby.

Watch it quite often.
Now that the kids are gone it's time to get another 69 camaro like the wife and I used to have.

Always wanted to go to the Barrett Jackson car auction. Was out in Vegas in October for my daughters wedding and their auction was going on but being just having back surgery we never went over to it. One guy told me you had to be pre-approved for X amount of dollars to get in. Don't know if this is true or not but i guess it makes sense. I could see that if you wanted a bidding number.

Will cost you a little more to purchase than the last one you had. :;:huh

You could just about purchase a new Camaro for the price you will have to pay for a 69 and have way less troubles to deal with.

Yup, I lived that era to the fullest. I had a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS 327/4sp for about 3 1/2 years. Next had a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner 383 what came with 440 heads, cam and carb. That was an automatic.

We have kids in Overland Park KS and hope to go to the Auction in March of 2018.

Funny you bring that up. A couple years ago my brother asked me to find him a new camaro, and I was like " you mean like a dozen folks have in our small town?"
I told him to get something cool and different, so he said find me something "he doesn't own a computer".
A couple hours later I showed him this picture and add, and a couple days later it arrived at his door in an enclosed trailer from Ohio. He likes the fact that he's never seen another one like it and that it's not depreciating like a new one would have.

Here's my old car, had allot of fun with it through most of my 20s!

Anyone ever been to "The Shed" in Warroad? Bob Marvin has one hell of a collection, 90+ to be precise. Free admission, great tour, see it if you get a chance. He's been a Mecum bidder quite frequently in the past....

I went to the web site but couldn't get the "auto collection" link to work. However, on the home page you can flip through his collection at the bottom of the page, just can't get many details. Doesn't do it justice, so many rare cars in pristine condition it's nuts.

Had a buddy who went to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Phoenix. He had to pay an entry fee but not a problem getting in to tour the cars. Getting on the actual auction floor was different. There you needed a bidding number and possibly a line of credit but he wasn't interested in buying so made no attempt. He was free to walk the car area to look at what was available.

Yeah, but would it bring back the memories of being in the backseat of the 69 with your wife?

Barret - Jackson is a huge event in Pheonix. I used to work a stand for Outback Steakhouse there every year and we'd sell 10+ thousand worth of food each day. If I remember correctly different times of the auction had different qualifications to be eligible to bid. There were just as many 5k cars being sold as 100k back then. I was tempted to try and bid on some of the cars after seeing what the were going for. Found out buyer and seller end up paying something like 10% of the final bid price. If you ever get a chance it's fun to go to there is a lot more going on than just the Auctions.

Did he buy it sight unseen? I know if i did that i would have the biggest rust bucket being unloaded off the trailer.
Wouldn't do that ever no matter what i buy.

Yes sight unseen kind of..
I had a qualified guy go and totally go through it and verify everything for like $250. I have another buddy that just did the same thing last year only he bought a 63 corvette, 66 Chevelle and a 67 GTO all numbers matching cars. "yes I'm jealous, ha ha" All came back with a good bill of health from the inspectors and arrived back here in ND with no surprises and they came from all parts of the country.

Always liked the GNX cars, guy down the street used to have a poor mans version in the form of a white Ttype with t tops and weld dragstar wheels. That car was sharp! I had an olds 442 at about the same time, like 87 or so. It looked great but was a dog compared to that turboed Ttype!

Looked like this one only his had ttops.

I had a 77 T-bird in high school. It became my brother's when I went to college. That thing had a 351 Windsor and flew. The speedometer maxed out at 85 (9 o'clock). I could get the needle to take a lap and point at 20 mph on the other side (3 o'clock). Wish I had a GPS back then to know how fast that was. My brother passed away in high school by crashing the thing. I get the hub caps and hood ornament from the wreck. I hang the hood ornament below the review mirror in my pickup. Someday I'll restore a 77 thunderbird, just like I had and my old hood ornament and hub caps will be on that restored car.

I was not from the era but I have always been a fan. I started out as a ford fan but now I like em all, from mustangs to camaro’s to barracuda, gto. Really wish I could have all the cars I like but in 1999 I bought (and still have) a 1966 mustang. I used to use it all the time, actually it was my daily driver for 5 years. It’s still on dollies in the garage but sat outside for years. It’s a little rough but the missus wants to redo it some day.

My my only problem with those big auctions is how it makes me feel like I have neglected my car and need to do something with it.
