Not much. Cold weather doesnt hurt, but migration is mostly daylight driven, I wouldn't expect to see a big push for a few weeks. Just like always.

Wind still booking out of the south here. I think it's supposed to switch to the west and then north this weekend. Might see a few fresh birds, but I doubt there will be many. Seems like recent years the best pushes have been during deer opener.

I like the optimism, but the snow is falling in the extreme SW part of SK and mostly very heavy rain elsewhere. Not to mention its not nearly cold enough to freeze anything and given the warm ground temps its snow they can feed right through and will likely be gone quick. I think we'll see some new birds but not anything even close to a big push.

We really had a good hunt last Saturday and Sunday. Limited on mallards and honkers both days. They were fresh birds to area. Cant claim I know where they came from but my area (northeast SD) definitely got a fresh push from somewhere. Did see few flocks of lessers too.

You're welcome. and after last weekends NR opener in ND, you'll have plenty more this weekend too.

I'm already seeing reduced numbers of birds in ND after last weekend. I'm sure the hundreds of duck boats entering the state have nothing to do with it!

Only the far SE corner is missing the snow. Put 2 to 6 inches of snow down then send the temps into the freezer for several days and your going to see a big movement of birds. The reports out of Canada are already talking about hearing birds up high and headed out. Don't think it will get the main push all the way to us but it's definitely going to speed the proses up.

Phez is this weekend. Will open a whole 'nother can of worms.

And really, MEA weekend is the worst. I think this year it's Oct. 20-21 or something like that. Freaking gong show.

My brother lives in north central SD and he can't wait for MEA because it pushes all the ND birds into his area regardless of the weather. It is Oct. 20th weekend.

The migration is in FULL SWING!!!!!!!! It started about a week ago. Most of them are coming from east of here and moving westerly in groups of 2 - 8. Based on their markings and direction of travel, I think their mostly from Minnesota and Wisconsin, but I have seen a few bunches from Ohio. My daughter is old enough now, so I bought her a valve stem tool of her own this year and huntin' been pretty good as of late. Hope to bag one of them Cadillac SUV's or a Lexus before the season closes. Stay Safe Guys!!!

KDM, did any of them have those straight billed hats and/or aviator sunglasses with a dark hoodie? those use to be rare but are becoming more common from what I understand?

"Bout 1 in 40 has those characteristics so yeah, not as rare as before. Started to hunt boat plugs last year as well as valve stems. Not as glamorous as a nice black unblemished valve stem, but not a bad trophy in their own right.

When you start seeing pics like these it's no longer a question of if the birds will move it's just a question of how far. This particular shot came from the Cypress Hills in the southwest corner of the province with a solid 4 to 10 inches spread from the Montana line up to Saskatoon and its still falling.
