the dock is in at Rifle Range, Glencoe, but i can tell you if you are worried about mud on your truck boat or trailer, you should probably avoid this ramp. When you turn off hardball and into the last dirt road into the ramp area it is a mud hole with ruts up to 2 ft deep+. Lock it in 4 wheel and give it the onion or you might be digging your trailer out of a mud hole. Just a FYI

Any particular method doing better than others. Are they biting both North and South of town? Think Fort Rice is any good?
I have not fished the Hazelton to Fort Rice area this year. I've fished out of the Maclean Bottoms (Rifle Range) boat ramp, but have heard and seen pics of excellent fishing all the way up through Bismarck. I've been out several times this past couple of weeks and it's shaping up to be the best spring fishing on the river since I moved to the Bismarck area in 2003.

The males made a mess in the boat this past weekend, but we are also still catching females full of eggs.

I started out doing very well with paddle tail style PowerBait, but then where we've been fishing they just shut off on the plastics and it's been a jig with a minnow since last Thursday. They've also become VERY light biters on a retrieve so slow you are almost still fishing. Depths have been everything from 2-20 ft, I even stopped to chat with a crew fishing the 40 ft deep hole across from the Rifle Range ramp. Yep, they were catching as well.

I know others who are still doing well on paddle tail plastics, but they are fishing elsewhere.

Good Thursday morning anglers in the Bismarck area. Seeming I started this tread I figured I better add to it. I've been busy last couple of weeks but finally got out yesterday with a buddy. Went in at Fox Island and we headed north just beyond Interstate bridge to the honey hole. We managed one there, then worked our way south by the new water intake tower on Bismarck side. Chatted with a couple of younger guys in a Warrior that had Live Scope and apparently it was loaded with fish but just not in a biting mood. However we did managed to pick up 4 more, and a real lite tap is all you felt. Used a plain chartreuse 3/8 ounce jig tipped with a minnow and drifted with current in 10' to 12' of water. We ran out of minnows! Overall, GREAT day to be out. Good luck to everyone, tight lines and play hard and be safe.

I went out of the Rifle Range this past Sunday. Put in a pretty good shift in a couple spots south of Huff that had been on fire the past few weeks. We only kept 6, threw back a few others and also caught several pike (no real size to them). Same story, jig and a minnow being retrieved very slowly.

I have other fishing trips planned over the next few weeks, so I am mostly done fishing the river this spring. It's getting to be time to venture out to the big lake, or the lakes farther east.
