My father-in-law was down here and mentioned MN changed their rifle/shotgun rules (He lives in MN). He said they were changing the shotgun zones to an any firearm zone. I have been hunting in a shotgun zone for 25+ years. I couldn't find anything until today. I have hunt MN, ND and SD. I see pros and cons with this change in MN. In the 25 yrs, shotguns went from a hopeful 100yrd shot to a 6in pattern at 200 yrds. I don't know what to think about this change.

Not till 2026 and counties are going to have veto authority over allowing rifles. I think it is nuts that I could use an AR pistol there in 308 with a 10 or 20 round magazine, but I can't use my bolt action 308. With the advances in AR pistols, slugs, slug guns, and muzzleloaders it really doesn't make sense anymore.
It would have been OK with me if they had allowed straight-wall calibers like a lot of states have done.
